According to a former NCAA equipment manager I used to work with, they regularly would have their players Bauer skates have standard eyelets placed over the one piece eyelets, because after heat molding and initially cranking down on the eyelets it would weaken the plastic and they were busting midway through the season. Granted that’s NCAA players who wear their skates way more than the average hockey player, but I’ve heard similar stories of NHL equipment managers saying the same thing.
@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews2 жыл бұрын
Yeah In the pros clearly not the same level of wear and tear. I also over the last 4 years have switched to the newest skate from Bauer so not long enough to see if real issues with the injected eyelets. However I busted the carbon on the hyperlite and that somehow is still in production and anyone that is a far better skater would blow those up way faster than I could. So who knows maybe it’s just luck too. But from a rec hockey player the injected eyelets are awesome.

Great initial review; have you been testing the CCM Jetspeed FT4 Pros and provide a quick comment on this? After I tried CCM Jetspeed FT1, I can't go back to Bauer because Bauer is too narrow, especially the toe cap, and take so much time to break in. I do highly recommend you might try CCM. Thanks glad you are enjoying them. Im actually dropping the hyp2 video this weekend. Hopefully slightly different as I want a huge fan of how I did my last two skate reviews because of things like durability is hard to comment on if the skate isn’t enjoyed and in this case the Mach wasn’t my fav skate for skating for my game of forward flex and straight speed. I sold them at some point awhile ago, to a team mate. The amp flex is showing signs of wear on the skates but hasn’t broken yet. But super long term 2 years it’s probably toast but for most who by top skates 2 years isn’t bad. Where as other May prefer lower end skate and spending less money. In terms of fit yes the Mach has considerable better comfort and modeling to ankle than the Vapor for some reason. Probably thicker as the Vapor is a more stream lined skate

I have always loved the flexibility and mobility of the Vapors. Lots of reviews talk about Machs feeling too upright and people returning them for Hyperlites that feel more forward leaning. I wonder if the upright feeling on the Machs can be solved with a better forward leaning blade profile? Or do you think it is just the design of the boot? I have noticed most NHL'ers are still preferring the Hyperlites. Also, the Hyperlites have been out for a few years now making it tough to pony up for skates that will soon be outdated. I just changed from Hyperlight skates to Mach as well. First impression is that you are standing on your heels. This I believe causes rest of the impressions that the profile feels different and etc. you are basically standing in skates differently campared to vapor. Takes some time to adjust. Other than that all is fine. Comfort is better. Power is there and unless you try it’s hard to explain what it is. It is not that quick as Hypers. It is funny but once you switch these skates you start to understand Bauer marketing. I’m staying with Mach now))

Hey man, great content as always! I’ve got a comment about the eyelets and a question about the toe caps. Regarding the eyelets, I’ve have a few pairs of custom skates from Bauer and they had an interesting perspective on why they do injected and traditional eyelets. The guys at the custom shop said the injected ones do a better job at lateral stability, but the traditional ones do a better job of wrapping the foot and with forward flection. This is why you see a lot of guys in the pros use traditional eyelets on vapors. They wrap the foot and provide a softer feel on a boot that already has great forward flex. The other thing is that people like me who have high volume feet usually do better with traditional eyelets because of the better wrap. Having owned custom 2X Pros and Ultrasonics wit both, I’d agree with their perspective. Regarding my question, did Bauer put any comfort liner over the seam between the toe cap and quarter package? They had A LOT of of retail and pro returns over that in the Ultrasonic. Supposedly they quietly slid that in and made the forefoot wider. Oh and based upon how you’ve been talking about these and the Hyperlite skates, I have a feeling you’re not gonna like the some if not any of the CCM skate offering! Lol. There’s a significant feel and performance difference between the Bauer skates and between all three CCM models. Honestly, the way you skate, you’re probably a Ribcor 100K Pro guy. I’ll be looking forward to your upcoming videos about them. We actually have all of the AS5 Pro skates in stock in our local shops but they won’t even let us see them. Apparently there’s an issue with the steel so the release is delayed until the end of next month. Might be different in your area.
@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I am concerned about the feel for a ccm over Bauer for the reasons you mentioned. The holders are on poorly I heard so they had to send the as-v skate back. Let me get back to you on your question just running around a bit and want to really read it and answer.

@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews2 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, sorry saw your comment was in depth and wanted to read it all and take it in! Much like your vids haha. You gotta be ready for how much information you gonna get! Between the two skates I did not notice the difference between the two eyelets in terms of foot wrap or stability. They were both similar and did a good job. what I did notice was how annoying it is to change laces on regular, and how quick it is on injected and how much easier it is to get the top 2 laces in once putting on the boots. so for me its just a bitch lol. once the laces were in and fine both boots feel amazing. I think all things equal, it just makes owning a par of skates easier and less cumbersome. I just checked out the boot and there is felt that goes from the tonque to the toe cap with a small ridge you can feel its covering. Throwing my foot in and looking for that specifically didnt notice it in a bad way. The felt is much better in older skates ( apx? ) didnt even have felt in there back in the day. I will still probably get an As-V in a month or so since its new and i really wanna see these differences.

My hyperlites and Machs were fit 3 7.5. I found the Machs kept me from having a large forward stride and I was on my heels a lot. Probably could be dealt with a profile but the Mach also felt a bit more “bulky” if it makes any sense. The hyperlite is a very stream lined skate that feels very agile in compared to other skates especially ccms. Although the Mach is a great skate switching back to a hyperlite was night and day to add to that the injected lacing I have been a fan of since it came out over traditional eyelets and that’s a personal preference but I find it makes far more sense in how laces are shaped over the circles of regular ones
