Thanks Chris good timing on this video as I am getting the Bauer Ultrasonic on June 26 ! I also have the 2Spro, my came with the Bauer speed plate insole on top of the one you show in this video.

Most welcome. To my knowledge Speed plates are no more. There are lots of internal discussions about how the arch support inserts aren't actually good for your feet. Currently Superfeet is still king of insole.

Bought the Ultrasonics with FIT1 and feels similar to the new vapor (but even better). Was worried the Ultrasonics wouldn't give a huge performance upgrade.... not to worry - they are amazing (agile and very fast). Love the prosharp quad profile. most amazing skates I have ever tried on and skated in - worth every penny.

I have 2S Pros. Like them except the lacing is really difficult. Is that why guys are going to long laces and wrapping them? Also hated the Speedplate insoles. Scrapped them for Form Ultra Thin heat moldeable insoles. Really like them. I’ve had Superfeet. Didn’t like the high arch. Last thing is that I put adhesive foam padding in the negative space inside the top of the toe cap. No more floating toes.

Just bought discounted 2S Pro for my 15 year old son here in Canada. Came with Speedplate 2.0 footbed liners as well as traditional foam liners. Is that not the case over in the UK? Or have they done away with the Speedplates for the new Ultrasonic skate? My son had aftermarket Speedplate 1.0s in his last pair of Supremes and says he really liked them... even more than Superfeet which he used for several years prior.

I guess it depends! Maybe they just put speedplates to the boxes in store and some have decided not to do that

The graphics on the new Ultrasonic are a bit of a shout out to the look of the TRUE skates... don’t you think? I like the looks of the 2S Pro still.

Skate technology has really advanced. Just when you think they can't get any better, they do. The pro skates don't come with the aftermarket foot bed anymore? I think they put the cheapest ones in so that they don't get stolen.

I've been out of the hockey equipment game for a while. Used to work at ice rink early 80s. How much difference is there in the two blades due to the different metals?

A good deal. I work at a rink now. I hear many with carbons going down a hallow (1/2 to 9/16th and such) due to the Extra bite! Take a game to get used to. For me, the carbon is PLENTY...no need for titanium for me. I am no pro by a Long shot! 😆).

Bauer has been releasing virtually the same skates every year since the apx and Bauer nxg skates. My Bauer mx3s are identical to the 2s pros

They now have titanium blades, but skimped out on the eyelets (which are great for lace bite protection) and adjustability on tendon guards. Its a meh for me. I’d rebuy by S2 pros instead of the ultras imo.

In my opinion yes. They lowered the kick point a bit to cater more towards snapshots. They also gave it a big weight loss program. I think it’s around 390 g. If you like mid Kik you’ll probably like it if you don’t you’ll probably hate it.

CCM is now leading the skate market. AS3 Pro’s offered a more complete upgrade package, especially on the liner/foam front. Those donut ankle pads are a life changer. One piece boot is still miles ahead of the unibody design. Plus, the Ribcore line is a totally standalone product range for a unique type of player. Crazy to see the market shift after what seemed to be a sizeable Bauer advantage for 5+ years.

Got a pair of 2S’s and a pair of 2S Pro’s on sale before season ended. So all set for 2020/2021 season. Always buy the more premium versions for my son as the entry level stuff just can’t take the 4-6 ice times a week. Just can’t justify the price when they are released. He’s 10 so his feet are growing like hell. Check Swedish sites for sales. Way cheaper than other parts of Europe.

I have the Bauer 2S Pro’s currently and had the 2S’s before until my gear was stolen...I was not a fan at all of the “Speedplates” that came with my 2S PROS...For some reason they didn’t seem to fit well in my skates and would dig into my heel on the side, and they didn’t fit my heel great...plus the raised feel in the toes I think made me more vulnerable to “toe picking” myself....They just didn’t fit my feet well....So one night at practice I was fed up with the “speedplates” so I took them out and put the stock sole for my 2S PROS in and the difference was AMAZING...I felt so freaking confident and good immediately with the stock sole...was buzzing out there....now my only complaint with the 2S PROS is even after 2 bakes I get a hotspot every game and skate on my forefoot on the outside...sometimes on top on my forefoot as well...but when I loosen them up slightly then tie them back up it seems to do the trick...But its kinda annoying just to think about that pain in my foot...I want to look into new Skates to see If I can find ones that I can tighten down real good and will fit great and not give me hotspots.

Moral of the Story...I’d rate the BAUER “2S PROS” a 7.5/10...they’re good skates...but I wouldn’t say I absolutely love them...and I play Competitive Men’s league for a Military Team in San Diego against guys in really good shape who can skate and have some skill, who use to play College, Juniors, and some even Semi Pro (ECHL)...So its no shit kicker bender league...
