The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is a university located in Weimar, Germany, and specializes in the artistic and technical fields. Established in 1860 as the Great Ducal Saxon Art School, it gained collegiate status on 3 June 1910.
Thanks to the faculties and areas of study such as architecture and urbanism, construction, art, and design, the media of the Weimar-Bauhaus University has its own unique identity. Today, the University offers a wide range of study programs in about 40 courses of study, including fine arts, design, visual communications, media design, media science, computer science and media, architecture, civil engineering, materials science, processing technology, environment, and management.
The university has its career center (Career Service), which helps students in finding a potential employer for an internship or all ready to start their professional career.
Notable alumni of the university include the artist Max Liebermann, the engineer, academician, and politician Günter Kraus, the architect Heike Hanada, and the artists Karl Lorenz Rettich and Friedrich Waschenhusen.
