This article refers to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, a higher education institution in Weimar, Germany, which coincided physically, institutionally, and ideologically with the Staatliches Bauhaus between 1919 and 1921. For other uses, see Bauhaus (disambiguation).
Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (German: BUW University of Weimar) is a university of creative studies based in Weimar, Germany. Between 1919 and 1921 it was even called the Staatliches Bauhaus ("state"), arch-briefly known as the Bauhaus. It has been the site of the European Summer Academy since 1993.
In 1860, Carl August founded the art school
Between 1919 and 1921, it is the Staatsliches Bauhaus mixed state education institution, the original Bauhaus, opened on April 1, 1919, founded by Walter Gropius.
Between 1921 and 1946, it became the Hochschule für Handwerk und Baukunst (University of Construction and Architecture).
Between 1946 and 1997, it became the Hochschule für Baukunst und bildende Künste (University of Architecture and Visual Arts)
Since 1997, the institution has changed its name to Bauhaus-Universität Weimar
