With a solid educational foundation, including an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley in climatology and physical geography, along with postgraduate work at San Francisco State in atmospheric science, I am also a proud Certified Broadcast Meteorologist recognized by the American Meteorological Society.
Having grown up in Paradise-the town that faced the heart-wrenching reality of wildfires-I’ve developed a personal connection to the landscape and weather patterns of Northern California. As a fifth-generation Northern Californian with pioneer ancestry, my love for this state runs deep. For over 45 years, I've surfed the stunning California coastline, from Santa Cruz to Ocean Beach, gaining an intricate understanding of how the ocean influences our weather.
But that’s not all-I’m also an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding. My passion for California's natural beauty and the outdoors enriches my approach to meteorology.

I really liked seeing the topography of Ca on the rainfall map.

First time I paddled out into just over head surf at Kelly's Cove as a teenager in 8-10 foot surf, the swell building, I thought I was going to die when an outside monster crept in fast. At first I thought it was the grey side of a super tanker! Never had been so scared in my life scrapping up that giant face. Paddling back in with the size a solid 15 feet was nearly as terrifying.

@@2Meteorologist Thankfully some old guy on a boogie board sitting way outside catching those bombs paddled past me, and I asked him, "How to get home?" He said "Paddle straight for shore and don't look back"! A few rides over the falls and I nearly kissed that sand.

Today's rainfall total at Orchard Cottage in Oakdale, CA was 0.30". This might be our biggest and possibly our only storm this month. I have already written off this season as far as being normal in Stanislaus County. Let's hope the next year or two isn't worst. Socal this year is a lost cause. Bill
