Sales tip: always use odd numbers. Pricing items just under a whole number, such as at $1995 instead of $2000, makes the price seem like a bargain. Customers tend to focus only on the first number and perceive the price to be closer to, in this case, $1000 rather than to $2000. In broader terms, odd pricing suggests a bargain versus even pricing, which encourages buying.

Great explanation DJ Bar!!! With my packages and I run into venues with uprights, I use the analogy to my clients that if they would order a Hamburger at McDonald's and wanted no onions, they don't reduce the price. They still have to pay full price for their burger. 90-95% of the times my clients totally understand.

I think you have to change and adapt to the times. My prices and a ton of others are super transparent. Its a flat package and what's included is what it is. People don't want to go through the hassle of calling up or emailing a DJ, asking the price they are quoted for such and such, wouldn't it be easier if you just built an easily viewable pricing a la cart or package and posted it?

@Scott Geoffrey total guests gives you a couple of things. 1. The more guests means that they can afford a large venue 2. The more guests means they can afford to feed that many 3. The more guests means you can charge more by saying you will need a larger system, even if you still use your normal system 4. The more guests gives you an idea of how their budget looks.

Every time I want to add a new service, I always offer it for free to an existing customer to gain the experience in what it takes to use it in a real world situation. The client is happy and I’m happy to know I can provide that service now. For example I wanted to offer monograms, so I bought a projector and bought a monogram design online and offered it to a client. Now I know how to do monograms, last thing you want to do is charge a client for a service you never done and end up messing up on something they payed good money for. I’ve made that mistake before and never will make it again.

If you have certain extras, say 7 extras, what about giving them a choice of 3 or 4. You could package it based on how many extras they get. This helps solve the problem of venues not allowing certain things. You could tell a client that the venue doesn't allow that but they can choose something else. For high ticket extras you could always leave out choices like the photo booth.

I know this is a bit late, but we have the same issue with venues telling us we can or can not do certain effects. To solve that problem with the packages we do like you do but instead of getting everything we allow them for pick from a list of extras up to a certain number. Example. Dj package for 3200 (the last you mentioned) Pick 4 items from our extras list. Cloud, pb, spaklers, up lights etc. This makes it easier for them and let’s them feel empowered that they got to pick their extras they want and not stuff they don’t want. Hope this helps.

@djrickyb5 жыл бұрын
In the DC /MD/VA area. 70% of my clients will choose the middle tier package. Which for us, it's 6 hours all inclusive of sound for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Arrival 2 hours before start time for load in, and includes a light effects show. The first package is just the sound system/4 hours, and everything is a la carte. If they add a ceremony sound system, and more than 1 hour of time, it makes sense financially just to book the middle tier package. Our biggest package only get's booked on 1, maybe 2 weddings a year, and includes totems, moving heads, and full room up lighting (24+ lights) with a 2 person team on the event. No photo booth, here. Too much hassle to ever bother with it. No TVs...my clients aren't into that, and it's not popular in the DC region. Tried dancing on the clouds between 2014 and 2017. My clientele never wanted to pay much to add it in, and some thought it was "cheesy" to do (Which I found strange) so I abandoned that add on option.

@LuxeIslandEvents I basically did a poll between 2013 and 2016 with my clients. I asked them if they are interested in large TVs showing music videos, or slide shows, or video presentation, and if they would pay to add that in. 1 in over 100 said maybe.

In my opinion, you atract the kind of clients by your promo. Somebody belive in super fancy DJ booth, like Piano, someother belive in lights, and they promote that in their video/pdotos. So thats atract the kind of clienta that like that, or belive in that to. Looking on few vlogs and promos, i see that most of DJs point everything on theirs stuff/gear. They show packed spot, crazy dances and energy. Belive or not, but not all of clients care of your gear, care yours super special DJ booth. Its all about the party, entertaiment, and there ia many ways to achieve that. Some couples looking for ready packed solutions, but you can talk with them and explain detailed some important aspects of every single service you offer. So if you have a biggar set of lights to offer them, try to explain the importance of that, why should they consider, what they will get with that, and is a big chance that they will accept it. If client is not interested in details, they only ask for price, think once - is that your clinet? , is that what you want to serve?
@mightyquinn51353 жыл бұрын

Why do people pay mcdonalds $4.00 for a big burger when you can make yourself 5 big burgers for $10 and have it taste better ??? . Theres also the reliable equipment and skill factor .
