I drove one of these little trucks for nearly 3 years in Misawa, Japan. Four wheel drive. It could snow 6 feet in one night and these amazing little trucks were virtually impossible to get stuck. And if you did manage to get one stuck, all you had to do is pick it up and move it! Nice build & video. Love that paint job!👍✌️

Love it! Im building my minicab in a similar way right now. Interior is fully stripped, and im sanding everything down for paint and collecting parts and making the undercarriage perfect. reupholstery is getting done in the fall, so excited.

It was a fun project but I have to say I had more fun driving it when it wasn’t so nice because I didn’t worry about scratching it or messing something up! I would suggest doing the maintenance stuff like steering bushings, shifter bushings, replace the seats and audio and then just enjoy the heck out of it!

1992 Acty, I doubt there are any such good condition units in Japan. The other day, my niece who lives in Salt Lake came to Japan for a funeral, so I took her for a ride on my light truck and she was delighted.It looked small, though.

I never liked purple, but root beer/ copper/bronze are my favorites! This is my favorite paint color now!! The impact of your purple ends up out-classing the copper!! BUT, it also makes the copper look so much more classy and well thought out!!! From the coin, the wheels and the purple paint make this a stunning piece of artwork 💜 Amazing vision. You sold me on that paint choice!

someone sprayed my dash and plastics like that in my VW, i'm guessing years ago, as that pain is peeling off the plastics so it have patches of 2 shades of gray. i have to think that paint doesn't last or stay on the plastic forever. That fabric idea, is baller.

Plastics have to be painted in a certain way for longevity. If you don’t use an adhesion promoter the paint it will definitely peel over time.

It is screen spline like you would use for screened in patios. You can find it at hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s

It’s the same tool they use for rolling in the spline in screens it should be near the spline in the store. The fit is tight and this method worked perfect. Haven’t had any issues with it coming out.

Honestly for a daily they are more fun keeping in their original form so you can just hop in and do whatever you want! You don’t have to worry about scratching the new paint haha!

@@BayCityRestorations yeah true but it’s all chipping and the wheels are scuffed up and the upholstery is tearing. And I would like to do a full mechanical refresh just to make sure it stays reliable and runs well. Maybe one day I’ll get a different daily and can turn it into more of a show piece
