Both projects are absolutely amazing! Personally, the blue one is my favorite 💙 Could you share what handlebar control switches and muffler you used?
@BayCityRestorationsСағат бұрын
Thank you 🙏🏻 the hand controls are the original BMW switches and the muffler is also the original that has been cut down to a shorty exhaust.

Your back splashed in rainy weather.

You can ride it rain or shine
@michaelbrinks80894 сағат бұрын
You took an old stock embarrassment to ride bike & turned it into something to be proud to ride.. 👍 I think a, not too big but functional rear fender to match the front one would look pretty good.... Like a floating rear fender with hidden mounting brackets that run behind the shocks. So it actually looks like it's floating. Would add a splash of red & blue color the rear of the bike. While protecting it from splashes. Of course some people would probably prefer no rear fender. I think the right small windscreen would look good on it also. Like maybe a late 90s early 2000s Triumph or Bull windscreen. Along with a custom rear removable rack. That held some military 🪖 like thick black duarable canvas saddlebags. With straps on them that keep em strapped down flat when empty. So they're not bulky & flapping around in the wind. The rear rack & saddlebags could be made to quickly remove for a naked look & quickly installed for a road trip.

I hear ya! I like the idea of a floating rear fender.

How to do you keep the gas tank from leaking out of the emblem that you screwed on? Do you just use rubber?
@BayCityRestorationsКүн бұрын
The screw does not go into the tank. Suzuki designed the tank with threaded inserts for the emblem.

I used to think those were the coolest bikes on the market. I don't think the look has aged well. Th R bikes of the time, on the other hand, I thought looked old fashioned and silly. Now I think they're badass.

the 3D print and the icon being a ornement detail, i love this guy already.
Love that you didn’t go the "custom" route and also didn’t do a 100 point restoration! I love well maintained bikes that show their age and history. That said, you should have spend some more effort to the engine/gearbox! The clutch bites very late and the engine idles like a bag of nuts!
@BayCityRestorations12 күн бұрын
You nailed it! My goal with this one was to get it back to a roadworthy bike and let another enthusiast take it further with engine/gearbox upgrades. It gets expensive quick when you go the 100% restoration route.

Where the spare wheel is located, did you think of installing a storage box for rigging / straps?
@BayCityRestorations25 күн бұрын
I’ve seen people add storage boxes in the space below the bed. It is a great idea! I personally like the original look of the spare tire hanging in that spot.
