I was a Dutch boy of only 5 when it all happened in ‘44. Visited Bayeux to show my gratitude. 79 years of peace. Thanks.

40 years ago I was privileged to represent the Royal Navy as part of a small contingent from HMS Fife which was anchored off the beaches. The pride we all felt marching through the town of Bayeux, and standing duty in the cemetery was enormous. Her majesty Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh were in attendance along with many veterans. We had a great time chatting with them and it is a memory I will carry with me always.

can I just say a big thank you to all the people that look after all the commonwealth graves and the respect shown to the fallen with not distinction to race religion or creed

You should add local language translations to these videos, at least to the titles. Otherwise they will increasingly become foreign impositions. Also it would be nice if the French and others would be aware of the Commonwealth sacrifice in the battles of Normandy.

Time may pass, but I will always remember those who gave so much, many without hesitation, to dismantle the chains of tyranny and pave the way for a brighter future. Their sacrifices, their unwavering commitment to freedom, will forever be etched in our memories. It is due to their tireless efforts that we now enjoy the fruits of their labour, a world where generations to come can thrive in liberty and opportunity. We owe them a debt of gratitude that we can never truly repay, but we can honour their legacy by continuing their work remaining vigil. Freedom is not free 🙏💐❤️
