Kreia didn’t want to kill the Sith and Jedi, she wanted to destroy the force. She wanted to end this force that led others to fall and made others slaves to its will, including herself. She wanted to end the Force’s influence over the galaxy.

I completely agree with you on this. Baylan and Shin quickly became my favorite characters in this series. I don't believe Baylon intends on killing Ahsoka or betraying his word to Sabine. He's using Thrawn as a way to get to his objective and won't think twice about betraying them. Since they left he's kept his right hand on the hilt of his lightsaber whenever he's around Morgan, Thrawn or the Night Mothers. He definitely has his own agenda and I can't wait to see what that is.

I noticed this connection the moment Baylan talked about ending the cycle of war too. In addition to Baylan having very similar motivations to Kreia and the hyperspace ring being called Eye of Sion, I thought Thrawn's damaged ship has a lot of visual similarity to Nihilus' ship with the battle damage. I think Ahsoka is definitely taking heavy inspiration from KOTOR 2.

I think he has the feel of a disillusioned crusader. His dress and fighting style are western Crusader. He reminds me of Balian of Ibelin and his backstory is similar. He’d be someone who saw Jerusalem fall, he’s someone who would have admired the spirit of the crusaders but lamented their personal failings. He saw the cycle of wars between the faiths leading to a cycle of rising and falling kingdoms and empires. Also, I’m thinking the big twist is Ezra being insane. Thrawn hints at something about Ezra. There’s also an insane Jedi also in the original Thrawn books. He’s stranded for years on a wasteland somehow surviving both Thrawn and the witches, yet is conversation has a strange feel to it when we finally see him. Like a guy stranded on the desert island who seems normal at first but who has lost his connection to sanity. There’s something of a treasure island quality to this story with everyone seeking one thing but with a Balin doing a Long John Silver thing. There’s an insane person in that story too.

I don't think that recasting Ray's character would be a good Idea. The problem with recasting important main or side characters is that its almost impossible to recapture the original actors intent and vision. I think they should respect Ray's portrayal and not recast him but let Shin's character carry on his plot line if they do make another season. This also assumes that both Baylan and Shin survive the first season.

Kreia is my all time favourite Star Wars character, and her philosophy has been a cornerstone to how I have come to view the Light and Dark Side in Star Wars, and the nature of how the force seems to keep repeating itself. I would love to see the canon tackle some of her philosophy, but unless its Kreia herself down in that planet, I don't imagine Disney would care enough to give it the time.

Disney might be willing to cast an actor who is able to emulate the late Ray Stevenson, but using audio/visual deepfakes to make him appear identical in order not to break with continuity. They did the same with Tarkin, Leia, Luke, Anakin/Vader, Palpatine, etc. Multiple actors playing multiple roles for a single character (ie: physique, voice, face, etc). Lucasfilm have been doing it since the 1970s. In fact, the character of Darth Vader has been played by 11 physical/voice actors since George Lucas created him. So anything is possible. If Ray's family gave permission to use Ray's likeness and voice, all they would need is a look-alike actor to emulate him physically. CGI could do all of the rest.

What's so great about this story is how much it's diving into the Legends lore to guide it, but not be beholden to that either. I think that it's telling the Great Mothers immediately recognize the Jedi teachings in Sabine despite being apart from the original Galaxy for thousands of years at a minimum. Something about the origins of the Jedi, like the Dathomiri, must come from this galaxy. My guess is the Tho Yor and original philosophy of the Je'daii are what Baylan is pursuing, the "beginning" of the cycle before light and dark separated into different factions and threw the force out of balance forever onward

While you are right in your analysis of Kreia, but IMHO what makes them seem look alike is that they are opposite poles. While Kreia rejected the force, Baylan embraces it, but in a more balanced way as a Jedi or a sith. To me he is taking a middle way. He says something similar to what the Buddha says: I want to end the cycle of suffering and war. In Buddha's teaching that is achieved by taking the middle way.
@DeliriousDaydreamer
@DeliriousDaydreamer 10 ай бұрын
Kreia and her apprentices were very nihilistic. I mean Kreia herself was blamed and exiled by the Jedi for Revan's actions, and then betrayed again by Nihilis and Sion. After which, she blamed the Force for the endless cycle of Jedi vs Sith. Sion was essentially immortal through his hatred for the Jedi, and he despised Kreia for her teachings. "The failure is yours. No longer do your whispers crawl within my skull, no longer do we suffer beneath teachings that weaken us. And now you run in search of the Jedi... They are all dead, save one. And one broken Jedi cannot stop the darkness which is to come." Besides just hating Kreia, he sounds convinced, but not ecstatic, at his own declaration. Darth Nihilis is named after Nihilism, though he is probably only nihilistic about the fact he is a walking void that is vulnerable every time he feeds: he is the darkness Sion mentioned after all. The living death of the Force. Nothing matters to him other than what will satisfy his unending hunger, if only for a short while. So Kreia being described as the opposite of the Buddha is hilariously accurate.

This "far away galaxy" was actually fleshed out in the Shadows of Revan expansion if you played an Sith Inquisitor. I am not surprised at all they used this since it was also present in the background of the original Star Wars movie in the end scene. Hell half of the stuff you see in the Mandalorian (ex the symbol) is ripped start from KoTOR and the MMO and novelizations. Disney was SMART making the old republic era canon again.

The obvious problem with this logic is that Baylan would have to literally kill every living thing in the galaxy since the Force flows through every living thing. That's what makes him, Kreia, and the fans who agree with them ignorant fools. In order to purge the galaxy of the Force, someone would have to purge the galaxy of all life. It is clearly the logic of someone who surrendered to the Dark Side.

For me, Baylan is the main character in this series. I want to know his backstories and Shin more than Ashoka, Sabine, Ezra or Thawn. Rebels already perfect, I dont need more stories of them.

Oh same! Baylen is awesome! I could watch like 10 seasons of a show called Baylen. With Shin as his Padawan. That would be cool. Something different from the same old stuff that's been done to death!

Balian's apprentice/Pawan is the key here (Not surprised considering Darth Kennedy). Is she a Padwan, comfortable with learning through questioning the force with her Master? Or, is she an apprentice, looking for weakness in her Master so as to strike? Regardless, the Thrawn piece has so far exceeded my expectations that, although are very low, are based on the novels I read as a teenager. My prediction is that Asoka will find herself a new Padwan. One far younger and with greater power.

I see everyone saying that shes gonna betray him but I dont see it at all. She doesnt seem antagonistic at all towards him, much more like a padawan than a sith apprentice IMO. The way she asks him about the childrens stories and the jedi temple shows me that they have more of a father / daughter relationship and theres loyalty there. As for her becoming ahsokas padawan after baylans inevitable death or write off, I can't really see that either. I feel theyll put her in a mara jade type role with Luke at his new jedi order, tieing into baylan "missing the idea" of a jedi order / temple by having the new and reformed ideals of Luke

The best part is that Baylan has a similar idea to Kreia, but unlike Kreia, Baylan is actually sane and has a goal that wouldn't end all life in the galaxy, whereas Kreia's solution would have quite literally killed everything because the force flows through everything, every plant, every rock, every living being, the air, the sun, the moons and stars, all of which would die had Kreia succeeded in killing the force. Baylan on the other hand seems to seek a solution to end the cycle of light and dark without, ya know, committing an unimaginably massive act of genocide. and mass-extinction.

@@bongzilla4172 thats my opinion too. I wonder if this is an extension of Anakin being the only celestial being, maybe this is balance in the force? The Jedi were not always the Jedi, and same with the Sith. Maybe this is 10,000 years of inbalance coming to an end?

Yes, I agree with your comparison. My two favorite force users in all of Star Wars are Kreia and Jolee Bindo. I have always thought Star Wars story telling would benefit from a more neutrally aligned position among the force users, fed up with the costly unending conflict between light and dark. The capacity for good or evil, like the Force itself, is in all living creatures. And belonging to the Jedi Order, or the Sith, or any group, won't change what you are at your core.-Jolee Bindo-

I agree that Baylan has his own agenda and it is in contrast with the one of Thrawn and the Sisterhood. But if there is someone who would like to "kill the force" like Kreya tried to do, it is Thrawn, non Baylan, and certainly not the Sisterhood. Maybe Baylan is aiming to a third way to the force, which would include Ahsoka and all force users with a mind of their own. It is a way less ambitious target for him, who is really short on resources, and so much more in line with what I've seen. Ultimately I believe he is one of the good guys. Unfortunately they are probably editing right now the last episodes to make him die at the end of this season... and I'm so sad about it.

I feel like something is luring Baylon he even says “can’t you hear it’ , he’s trained his apprentice for something special . I believe he’s possibly being lured by Abeloth & his apprentice will be who’s she’s able to consume & take her body . Maybe then Thrawns death by icy cold tentacles will come true at the hands of Abeloth . The Nightsisters & thrawn are all fleeing whatever great power this is on Peridia .
