Random "inspections" are such a crock. It can result in damages, wasted time and additional costs that a lot of small businesses just would not be able to cover. Is there no 'fee' you can pay up front like a pre-check at the airport? lol Hearing that 7,000 number pissed me OFF lol

For the leftover thread on the spools you could see if someone wants them in a local Buy Nothing group. It doesnt look like much for embroidery but for use with hand sewing or used with a regular sewing machine, it may be a lot. I would happily grab them and see what I can do, I have some cloth diaper inserts to make and I do want to make some "un-paper towels" at some point.

Yeah. It definitely looks like more than enough to fill a bobbin and some of them could probably fill a whole little spool. They're embroidery thread though so they'd be a bit thick for normal sewing. They'd still work perfectly fine for hand embroidery though so it really does seem like a waste to just cut them off.

I couldn't help myself. The blue squares that came with the packing tape are dried sponges for using on the tape to wet it. They'll puff up when wet.

It really doesn’t feel ethical to hold your stuff hostage then charge you for the delay. The only winner is the third party who is leasing the government the space. Whoever agreed to that contract is an idiot. Highly unfair you get charged more if it takes them longer to get to your stuff. How have business not rioted?

With the leftover thread, IDK I think it could be cool if you did like almost-randomly-colored embroidered sweaters/hoodies? Like a little while ago you did that unique colored Luna Moth as a present to someone and that one really turned out super pretty. So if you got like a basic black or a white blanks and then embroidered like one design on all of them but with whatever color combos you can with the leftover thread, that could be really cool? (Maybe sell them as "Mystery Surprise Colors"?) And IDK, a basic moth/butterfly design could work well with that too since moths/butterflies can look super pretty in any color (where as some other themes might look weird in funky colors, like a blue bunny might look weird but bugs? Any color works), though using a different moth could be a good idea (so it wouldn't compete with the Luna Moth design, though it would mean you'd have to spend time making a Scrap Thread Design). IDK just throwing it out there

you could use your sewing machine and wind that extra bit of thread onto bobbins rather than cut it off and waist it. if you use it for one thing or the other down the line. Just a thought instead of cutting it off and waisting it.

it might be cool to have a shirt or hoodie design that has a general pattern on it that would look cool in any/many color ways, and then sell it as “mystery stitches” so nobody knows exactly what color threads they’ll get. maybe put up a list of possible color options/combos that might be sent based on your thread stock. just an idea! ❤

Hi Baylee, did you consider vacuum storage bags for easy storage. Especially your bags and the sweatshirt-blanks could be stored in those. It would take up much less space. Not sure if you can store the pillow cases in it as well, the fabric might crincle

I recently read in an article that third-party cases and accessories can place the magnets in places that can affect the phone, in some cases magnetising the components which in turn means that maps doesn't work well and sometimes the camera. Most electronics have magnets inside them to work, it all seems to depend on strength and placement though.

They may not open any boxes at all that is the crazy thing! So many containers my company has moved get pulled for "random" inspection and all customs does is send them to be run through the scanning machine at the port that they use for containers. Quite often customs can't even be bothered to cut the original bolt seals to inspect the physical product itself. I guess that is a good thing though because a physical full inspection is even more expensive than just a scan!

Like I understand it’s costly to hire someone and interview them and trust them and stuff but it seems so much cheaper than spending so much money on shipping without being certain that it will all show up in time for Halloween (colour wise bc that would be soooooo annoying omg) I’m not an expert and I’m sure you have probably looked into it but it really does depend on how close to the US border you are but surely it wouldn’t be as much money as 2500 when it could be 1000 or less and have someone drive them to you like idk I must not understand the concept of how much you ordered but I just want to assume a PO Box and a U-Haul would be quicker and easier than waiting 3 months for something like this (again I’m sorry I’m being dumb by saying it I’m sure you are entertained the idea previously lol)
