It looks like home. I'm from Bayou Lafourche, Louisiana, and my grandparents were commercial shrimpers. My home looks similar. We have trawl boats that line the bayou for miles, and periodic shipyards. Seafood is our traditional industry (many of the older commercial fishermen like my grandparents being native French speakers), and oil and gas is our modern industry. Port Fourchon, further down the bayou, is the largest offshore oil port in the country. Come and check us out if you ever get a chance. Also, it's funny, when I lived and worked in Orlando, I had a name tag that said where I was from, and every now and then, people would glance at my tag that said "Bayou Lafourche, LA" and would say "Bayou La Batre, Louisiana! Hey, that's where Forrest Gump is from!" And I'd just be thinking, "There's so much that wrong about what you just said, but I won't even bother. 🙄" 😂 I'm thinking, 1. You didn't even try and sound it out. It says "Bayou Lafourche," not "Bayou La Batre." 2. Bayou La Batre is in Alabama, not Louisiana. 3. Forrest Gump is from Greenbow, Alabama, a fictional town. His company, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., was based in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. 😂

This village is so quaint. Love all the red shrimping and fishing boats. Loved the ink you had on Forest Gump and Pirates of the Caribbean. I didn’t know any of that information. Sorry I'm a little late to the party. Wow, it's not very often that you see a shipyard anymore, is it? It must be a hellacious place to work in the middle of the summer :) I actually didn't know that Bayou La Batre was featured in Forrest Gump, but for obvious reasons it makes complete sense. I wonder if Bubba's momma still lives there 😉 6:07 I see the remnants of Chloee have come along for the ride 😁 As the video played I also had a page open on a different screen for some additional reading, I found it interesting that a third of the community is Asian, mostly Vietnamese fishermen!! That was a well put together story, I am guessing that you had to write a script for the presentation as well.

Thank you very much Richard, I knew you would notice the dog hair on my lens cover. It is so second nature to me, I don't notice it all the time. Yes, when we drove by some of the workers were outside on breaks and they looked like their jobs are hard by the condition of their close and dirt on their skin. I bet that is hot in the summer like you said.

I have to say it’s a great video I don’t know when you got the chance to visit a little piece of heaven, But I worked on those steel slabs out of Bayou La Batre, Alabama. in the late 70s and early 80s and it’s a beautiful town and wonderful people if Americans would stop buying the poison farm raised foreign so called shrimp that’s imported into our country. Our commercial fishing industry would come back, it’s a damn shame to see what foreign pond raised, so-called shrimp has done to our commercial fishing industry back in the day I was very young and made enough money to buy Miami and pissed it all away if Americans would stand up and buy wild caught, USA seafood and stop buying that Walmart crap that comes from Vietnam and Argentina, Indonesia, and of course, China and everywhere else… please buy wild, caught American seafood you wouldn’t be poisoned I promise… Wild caught USA seafood is the only way …

I agree, we only by shrimp when we are down south. We have a guy that goes out on his own boat in the evenings and sells fresh shrimp the next morning, only $2.00 a pound when the shrimping is good. We only buy from him. :)
