You could also run a strip of 1x4 or something similar on top of the 2x4 just to cover the holes up help keep little fingers out and keep wasps out. Great build outwise thanks for sharing

Thanks. That is a good idea. Had the one at my house a couple years. For some reason wasps don’t seem to like it. They like a lot of other things though.

In your opinion, to prevent finger entanglement, is it better to have a larger gap or smaller one between rollers ?
@BayouDad
@BayouDad 25 күн бұрын
3 1/4 “ apart. I have made three. Haven’t had one problem w fingers. On my last one at 3” I had a few that got too close together and wouldn’t turn correctly. Was hard to fix that. My first two I had not problem w that. Anyway 3 1/4 “ is ideal based on my experience.

I didn't hear how long the conduit was cut too? Full list of plans would be super helpful....Thanks for the inspiration!

I was wondering, I’m not an engineer, do you think conduit is the only way to do it? Could rebar work? I’m so encouraged that you gave God the credit for the answer to how to make it cheaper but I’m still looking at a Lowe’s cart full of stuff that is super expensive.
@BayouDad
@BayouDad 4 ай бұрын
@@NM-mh2if it is an expensive project but I have made it cheaper than usual. Using smaller pipe and 6” long conduit. You won’t be able to keep rebar in place and it has ridges.

Couldn't you use a reducer on each end instead of caps that you have to drill?
@BayouDad
@BayouDad 23 күн бұрын
@@BluePython89 the tube needs to spin on an axle. The 1/2” conduit is the axle. The tube spins on this metal conduit. Not exactly sure what your idea is.

Considering building one of these that is portable for the box maze. So it has to be taken down and set up again. Not sure how I’d do it. Any thoughts, besides replacing screws with bolts? Any idea how much this weighs?
@BayouDad
@BayouDad 5 ай бұрын
@@Ryanc696 i built the sideboards (2x10x16’ w attached 2x4x16’ at my house and hauled them to the church. Not too heavy. Then joined them together w 2x4s. You could use lag bolts for this. Then use bolt to attach to 4x4 supports. Should work. Or the whole roller part could be one piece but that would be heavy. If you have a lot of help you could manage it. Also my next one will be a little higher and faster. Just made Gaga ball pit. Making video on that now. Easy.

@@Ryanc696 I’ve been thinking. The screws can just be undone. No need for lag bolts.

@BayouDad

@@suedavis4467 yes just keep same angle or a little steeper. Won’t be as fun. You could make it narrower too.

Did you use 3/4” drill bit thru the caps? The 3/4” conduit’s outside size is almost 1”. (The inside size is 3/4”). The 3/4” drill bit was too small

@@jz497 sorry if this was problem. Here they called it 3/4” metal electrical conduit. It is 3/4” OD. Fits tightly in the 3/4” wood holes. I pound down one end to fix into wood.
