I usually set all my tracks on -12db when recording. However, when mixing, do you gain stage, and if so do you recommend bringing faders to 0 before gain staging or during mix? I’m confused on how to approach this. I’m such a noob with engineering lol.

Jordan Baywood I’ll keep in mind. Yea I keep hearing about this -18db sweet spot. I guess that makes sense that you do -20. Also when do the faders come back up to 0? After the mix is complete and ready for mastering? Or before that?

How u get them fat vocals I turned up gain but I hear background noise so I can’t turn up all the way tried half way gain on audio interface but it a skinny wave form

turn your gain up to 75% then. Some people are naturally quieter when recording which is fine!

if you look at the edit tab it should be a wave form button right next to a category that says drags
