Two brilliant minds are making me feel quite ignorant, yet I can’t help but love it🖤🤣It’s a humbling reminder of how much there is to learn and grow, and it motivates me to keep expanding my understanding.

If you find it hard to perform regular prayers, recite this Dua: (Quran 14:40) 🤍 رَبِّ ٱجْعَلْنِى مُقِيمَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِى ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَآءِ ▫️Rabbij alnee muqeemas Salaati wa min zurriyyatee Rabbanaa wa taqabbal dua. ▫️My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and many from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.

Very interesting discussion however anyone with discernment can see that historians and scholars of Islam are, generally speaking, of two classes. You've got people like Prof Annemarie Schimell, Madelung, Neuwirth, Prof Cole etc then you've got Powers, Rubin, Pregill etc

There's an interesting doctoral thesis written by Dr Amal Rabi' in Egypt entitled Israilyyat in the exegesis of Tabari, where she critically examines the use of Israilyyat and I think it's an important, if not overdue, contribution to the field. Be interested to hear either of the presenters view on the thesis if/when they get around to reading it

Why don't these knowledgeable people just come out and say what they believe? They should fear Allah more than backlash, the ummah could really use some knowledge especially with how many people are following hundreds non scholarly opinions online (no offence to them) instead of people of knowledge. I'm worried it is very damaging, we need those who have exhaustive Islamic education
@ziryabjamal3 ай бұрын
They kind of explained why it is that some scholars aren't open about their positions. It's the inevitable backlash 😢
@Sam823973 ай бұрын
That's what I'm saying though. They should care more about spreading the truth over backlash, they should fear Allah more than people
@IbnAshur3 ай бұрын
That’s very true - if we want to see this, collectively we have to start being more tolerant of different opinions and open to difficult discussions.
@chu67573 ай бұрын
@@IbnAshur I'm all for it -- I think many are. For the amount of backlash I'm sure there will be the same amount who would be eternally grateful -- also, especially online, negative voices and hate sound much louder than the minority they are, as people aren't so passionate when they agree. Personally, I have come to some conclusions about issues which seem very logical to me, which I've been afraid to share since I feel like if I believe something 2 billion other people don't I must be incorrect. Now I wonder if perhaps others also do but are keeping it to themselves. It would be incredibly validating if learnt people agreed. Nevertheless they should speak out in general. If they are too cowardly then In sha Allah someone else can educate us on their behalf while keeping the scholars anonymous. I believe early Muslims were tolerant, even if they disagreed and were reluctant to accept other views they did. There are grey areas and there have been times two different opinions were both correct. Online I am seeing more and more random influencer/gossipy muslim non-scholar men come up with quite toxic, extreme views which are being praised when muslims are supposed to be in the middle and have both heart and education and not make religion difficult. One day these inlfluencers may become more popular than the scholars, even those who are also on social media. We need education, acceptance and tolerance. I am sure we will get it even if it takes a decade but first the learnt Muslims need to speak up.
