Austin was born to play Elvis in this movie. I'm sure he's always had the potential to be an amazing actor but he was pretty much being type-cast as the pretty-boy teenager. I truly look forward to seeing his projects in the future...even if it's just to see him.

I’ve been an ELVIS fan my entire life. I stood in front of the TV and watched when the ‘68 Comeback Special aired, I saw him live in 1975, and I sat on the edge of the bed and cried the day he passed away. The movie is great… don’t miss it! ❤️

Saw ELVIS today on IMAX. It surpassed my expectations - and then some! It's one of the greatest biopics of the past 40 years. Whatever Col. Tom Parker's origins, he was a great Showman. Tom Parker and Elvis created the Legend. The movie is a salutary lesson that Show Business is Show BUSINESS and the second word is neglected at extreme personal cost to any performer. Austin Butler and Tom Hanks give great performances and deserve to be rewarded in every way.

Just saw this film yesterday, I’ve been a big Elvis fan since I was little, and it was amazing. Austin Butler killed it as Elvis, and all his singing was fantastic. Tom Hanks was also great as Tom Parker, I never thought he could be such a mischievous villain of sorts. And Baz Luhrman’s directing of course was astounding. All of his films feel like you’re at a glitzy birthday party where the drinks are cold and of the finest quality and the staff went all out on the party decorations, and I can’t think of anyone else that would’ve been a better choice to tell the story of The King.

@Chiara Russell the only manager that wasn't parasthetic and didn't exploit his performers was Brian Epstein. He was known for managing The Beatles and he treated them like they were his sons, while they treated Brian like a father-figure, a friend, and he was the only Fifth Beatle. I think Andrew Loog Oldham, the manager of The Rolling Stones was also non-parasitic. I hate how people who are managers to singers or bands, they just only care about making themselves rich.

I'll be honest, as an Elvis fan for over 30 years of my life, I was skeptical about this judging from the trailer. I decided I would go see it on the big screen and to say the least, it was really well done. Yes, Hanks did have a strange accent but it felt like they were purposely trying to amplify the fact Col. Parker was not really American. Hanks played the role well considering he was nothing like Parker. It was more of a comic side to the role I thought. Austin done a very good job portraying Elvis with the moves and mannerisms. I would definitely recommend watching it.

I’m 50 and too young to remember Elvis. But, I remember every Sunday his movies were played on TNT and my mom would watch them as she folded laundry. She was a fan like everyone from her generation except men who were jealous. He meant a lot to baby boomers. He was the singular most prime mover of adolescence in the history of the world, not just the USA. A train that is still rolling and is unstoppable and will never again be what it was before. Kids have a voice, a calling, a meaning. That all started with Elvis. Like Jim Morrison said, “Elvis was the Big Bang.” and Lennon said “Before Elvis there was nothing.”. Elvis literally is the eternal teen God. I never listened to his music. I listened to Motley Crue, Metallica, Poison, Bon Jovi, AC/DC,Whitesnake,Journey,Ozzy Osbourne,Queen,Pink Floyd, and all the popular bands in the 1980’s at that time. But, when I was 14 yrs old I became very sick with cancer. Wasn’t supposed to make it. One night, laying in bed, throwing up, fevering, and wishing I was anywhere other than where I lay I summoned the strength to get out of bed to see what was in an old box at the top of my closet. When I reached for it, it fell to the floor and the contents fell out. I saw a cassette tape and picked it up. It said, “Elvis: A Legendary Performer, Volume 1.” I don’t know who it belonged to, probably my mother. So I grabbed my boom box, sat it on my night stand, turned off the light, hit play, laid back, and for the next 45 minutes or so was transfixed or more like transferred to another place, another realm. It opened with “That’s All Right”. The song was different than anything I ever heard or was accustomed to listening to. It blew my mind. I forgot about the pain and nausea I was feeling and was at some harbor somewhere in time. His voice, the feeling of the track, I can’t explain it really but I’d never heard music like that before, not QUITE like THAT. It had this aura to it and power. Then, Heartbreak Hotel followed. Same thing. Then, “Trying To Get To You” took me to some mystical mountain. I can’t explain it but it was so heavy to me, so imagery laced and eerie. From there the cassette had other songs and excerpts of him talking. My favorite track on the cassette and got me through the night and many nights later was a hymn called “Peace In The Valley”. To this day, it’s my favorite Elvis song. I listened to that cassette all night long and into the break of day over and over and over in between prayers and puking. It brought me comfort and gave me strength. It truly did. From that day on I discovered Elvis Presley and got my hands and ears on everything I ever could regarding Elvis Presley. I couldn’t believe how great his music was. What a journey. His music made me love music-all music. It opened up the doors for me to wanna hear other artists I otherwise hadn’t cared to ever discover. Everyone from his peers to punk rock. Everything in-between. Jazz, Blues, Gospel, even Country. I recovered and I’ve never been sick again after that year. It’s been going on about 35 yrs. I tribute my good fortune a lot to Elvis Presley’s music. Yes, obviously, doctors, medications, prayers, love, and the rest. But, spiritually, the music of Elvis was my Muse. It lifted me up. Who can really explain Elvis Presley? Anyway, I really enjoyed this film and feel it hits closer than any film ever made of him. By far. He was different. God blessed. Thanks Elvis.

I remember seeing Austin on Nickelodeon/Disney shows from years ago. His acting in this film is a HUUUUUGE step up. I see him going forward to working on bigger roles & bigger movies. I was watching the movie & was so invested in the Elvis character (as I should) but I didn’t recognize any Austin in there. The accent changed everything. So proud of Austin & all he has accomplished. Looking forward to seeing the rest of his career moving forward

I saw it and mannnn… it was iconic!! This movie made a lot of new young Elvis fans. Black white brown and everyone in between. Oscar-winning performances and I smell at least 3 Oscars. At least three. Austin Butler’s breakout role was a huge success. He is a bonafide superstar now. “If I Can Dream” was great. I can’t wait for the Blu-ray 4 hour director cut! But this is a movie that should seen in a movie theater in XD. Bring the family!!! HBOmax has it now which is great too, especially on a large screen TV

I’ve known about Elvis my entire life. I do not go to the movie theater but will make an exception for this movie. Elvis was a big presence in my household. My father was a huge fan and if The King was on tv, the whole family was watching on the big console television set in the living room. My mom would make popcorn and a good time was had by all in the good old days. Disney also was a big deal in those days. This was before Disney lost all sensibility and became the social disgrace it is today. It was a horrendous day when Elvis Presley died. I vividly remember that day!

Just saw it. WOW. As a diehard fan & tribute artist I was apprehensive, but seeing the trailers and the family give their blessings. And now I’ve seen what they meant. It moves fast, there are some inaccuracies here & there. But it’s true to Elvis, the man, the artist , the legend. But I came away emotional especially by the end. I can only imagine how emotional it was for his family. Austin Butler does a great job, no he doesn’t look like Elvis, but he captures him in spirit from the start. His mannerisms, his speech, and he got down his dancing from the 50s to the 70s pretty good. Very impressed! This movie shows you Elvis’ roots, his triumphs, his setbacks, his frustrations, his rebelliousness at times. Love how Baz uses Elvis’ songs throughout the movie especially at certain times that fit what’s happening. Would’ve liked to see more of Elvis’ happy times and his generous nature of buying ppl cars etc… But this is a great movie. Going to see it again. Want to see the 4 hour version now! Long Live The King! Austin deserves an Oscar. Bravo 👏 Baz is a genus! 👏 Beautifully made! Wow

Your review has meant the most to me. You are coming from the exact spot as me them. I am coming from a fan with 3 - 9ft book cases of Elvis books. I wanted to DISPEL the stupid lie about shining shoes & her age drama, create decades of new fans to keep Graceland doors open, and give us new mechandise & 4k movie restorations!!! Wished they touched his humility & Philanthropy!

@@kelliintexas3575 I think the majority of Elvis fans will like this movie. It shows him in a good light, and is honest in parts. They show how Elvis was over worked & under appreciated. I just wished they’d mentioned that when Elvis played Vegas it was for 30 straight days no off days 2 shows a night, sometimes 3. Nobody does that. No entertainer could do that today. I might have missed that so I’m seeing it again. It moves fast. Don’t blink. The other actors deserve praise too. Great cast!

I don’t know what the right words are, When I watch what he entered into, his voice was magical but for the time he was in the popular culture said unbelievable comments and the same from other famous blues artists when I see Elvis saying he can’t criticize any other artists “There’s room for all of us” what a gifted person he was not just in his voice but compassion to touch so many it’s still being felt in 2022😎 There is only one King and he said that too. Thank you God for letting us all lose ourselves in the gift of music That’s made for EVERYONE!…..

I really enjoyed the ELVIS movie and I love seeing ELVIS become the maestro as he gets the band up and Rock'n. I think it would have been simply wonderful to see more of that aspect in the movie watching ELVIS at work and seeing more of the man behind the scenes preparing for his Aloha from Hawaii concert the way he connects with his charities and the every day person in a real beautiful way that made people love him even more. I would have thoroughly enjoyed watching ELVIS interact with the band behind the scenes after his shows in Vegas and the celebrities he would invite to perform with at the after parties. Touching on his spiritual side and the struggles he had with Parker and the movies he ended up despising. I would have enjoyed more of the heyday early ELVIS we see with B.B.KING and the way ELVIS interacted with other's in those time's making ELVIS someone anyone could relate with in their own way.
