Raag Miyan ki Malhaar (a.k.a. Miyan Malhar) is said to be composed by one of the navaratna of Mughal Emperor Akbar's Diwan-E-Khas, the great maestro Miyan Tansen himself. It is considered as the raag of rainfall and hence is popularly associated to the monsoon season. It belongs to the "Kafi Thaat" from Jati, "Sampurna - Shadhav Vakra". Though various types of Malhar are being sung, viz. Sur Malhar, Gaud Malhar, Nat Malhar, Ramdasi Malhar etc., yet only Miyan Malhar becomes obvious when one mentions Raag Malhar.
