Being new to KZbin, I was initially intimidated by the production value because I knew nothing. I'm loving the change to authenticity and simplicity.

Hello from St. Paul, MN! I found you from Wayne's channel, too. I've loved YT for years, but was not fully aware of the Gen X corner I stumbled into. I don't dislike editing, but it's not my first choice of things to do. The Mr. Beast style edits are very intimidating. I like the new trend because it makes me feel like I have a chance at this. Like I'm enough, and what I want to share is enough without the super fast pace and quick cuts. New subscriber here. Enjoying your stuff a lot!

On my new channel I’ve decided to focus more on the thumbs the titles and the content. On my other channels I was prioritizing the editing and it burnt me out. I’m excited with this new approach. Good job on this video! I’m now a subscriber😁👍🏻

I like the outdoor sounds! So relatable. My set up has to be set up every time because my studio is both where I do my day job and my painting studio… I don’t mind. Could I make it easier? Probably, but putting the set up all together gets me in the headspace to film. Copying is the finest form of flattery! Don’t sweat it.

Oooo what’s worked for me is not watching the content creator videos. They make videos that remind me of 90’s corporate training videos mixed with weird MTV DJ vibes all while selling you something. It just isn’t my jam.

😂 That made me laugh out loud - I feel the same way!

I’m so happy Wayne lead me here to you. I’m here now for the long haul. You are such a calming person so real. I’ve noticed that about my own videos. I also love to toss in some edits and fun things because it’s what I love. I have also noticed straight forward stuff resonates with people my age. I’m over here finding my sweet spot if you will. I’ve calmed way down on my edits and it’s made uploading my videos so easy…not as fun for me though. Oh gosh! Those sirens😳 when we visited Blue Lake a while back when I heard that sound I was like…what the world?! I love the outside noises. I really do and especially the train! I loved this video, great audio and trees…

I recently retired and have been watching a lot of 'retirement' videos. They are very much like you described. No edits. Slow pace. Lots of views. I think the best advice is to make videos like the videos that you like to watch.

I really enjoy your creative, edited videos. I'm still in the pre-production (aka: "thinking about it") phase of starting my channel too, and like you've stated... the biggest appeal to me is I enjoy editing and making fun videos. It's the "being on camera" and feeling like I have something profound to espouse that's holding me back for now. Maybe I'll just copy some of yours too? haha
@BrandonBautista3 ай бұрын
Copy away! And thank you for the kind words. I definitely have second thoughts every time I publish, where I think, “is anyone going to be interested in this?” But I get a lot of nice comments that make me feel better about it, so hopefully the same will happen for you (when you’re ready).

I think sometimes we overthink it. Well, I certainly do. Also, I remember Sarah Deitchy talking about making videos we want to make vs. what the audience wants. She said: Make one for them and on for you. I thought it was clever. FYI, you can report if someone copies your stuff.

I am finding the same with effort also. It always amazes me when I see all these big creators that just "wing" it in the post phase for lack of better word just crushing it. My last video took me a bit to edit with color grading and audio design and it's just meh.

I'm NOT trying to knock you here, I promise - but when you started talking about copycats on the internet I LOLd a little. You don't have the following/viewership to really NOTICE people copying your style. I'm not saying you're wrong.... but no, the internet isn't copying you - you just notice that alot of people do the same things.
@BrandonBautista3 ай бұрын
That is a valid perspective, and I definitely understand where you’re coming from. There is certainly parallel thought happening in many cases. The thumbnail image in question, however, matched mine element for element so specifically that I have no doubts they deliberately recreated it… and I’m fine with that. But again, I understand and appreciate your feedback. ✌️

I think it’s age group and who you’re catering to. Older people want to connect and for you to slow down and not be so quick on the cuts. Have actually had people tell me this in my comments. So gonna try and slow it down a bit in the next few videos and see how it goes.
