Here's a BBC1 globe from the early 1970's which I prepared earlier...
I've been trying to find a high quality globe from this period but had to resort to several hours of technical jiggery pokery with my Macbook Pro running DaVinci Resolve 12.5 and ScreenFlow 6.1.
I had to download the best version I could find from KZbin, recreate the dividing line under the globe as well as the 'BBC 1 COLOUR' logo blow the line. But first I reframed and straightened it out a bit. Then I ran it through DaVinci Resolve for frame interpolation to 60fps to get the original video look, and also to do a rough recolour and set the chroma and luminance levels. Then I upscaled to 720p and replaced all the colour, before editing the original 35 second KZbin clip to just over 2 minutes plus fades in and out.
Actually, it was slightly more complicated than that, but it looks fairly good, I think??? I'd like a better clean recording though if anyone can point me there.
This footage is used in fair use and purely to inform, entertain and make those of us who grew up in Britain in the 1970's feel a warm sense of nostalgia!

Well, it's five past nine and nearly time for six past nine. On BBC 2 now it'll shortly be six and a half minutes past nine. Later on this evening it'll be ten o'clock and at 10.30 we'll be joining BBC 2 in time for 10.33, and don't forget tomorrow when it'll be 9.20. Those of you who missed 8.45 on Friday will be able to see it again this Friday at a quarter to nine. Now here is a time check. It's six and a half minutes to the big green thing.

Glad to be of service. Perhaps you'll like my 'Window in to the Past' effort on frame doubling to bring ALIVE about 20 color minutes of May 22nd 1958... long before I was born...

Hi, I'll give it a view. I'm sure your globe will be in much demand by people wanting to use it, as it's very rare to get such an extended version of such quality. Dare I say it looks better than the originals I've seen due to the decent colour. Thanks.

Also, the longest original continuous footage I have of the globe (which you have recreated,) is 1min.45 secs. Even less of the previous globe, (30 secs) Cheers.

I thought just over 2 minutes of a smooth, reasonably sharp, and nicely coloured BBC1 Globe should cater for most possible uses. I can make it longer to order quite easily. I'm currently working on how to use software to increase resolution so it almost looks HD. Then again, as I recall live 625-line TV on a good CRT, it was very sharp at normal viewing distances. When I first saw uncompressed 1250-line demonstrations in the late-1980's at BBC TV Centre, played of a bank of four D1 (digital video recorders with cassettes that made U-Matic cassettes look dinky!) I was blown away! It was from an Outside Broadcast at Horse Guards Parade and I thought it was like looking through a window... Of course it was still 50 fields per second so it had that live look. As flat LCD, LED, plasma, OLED etc.. screens had not been invented or considered as usable for HD, 50 progressive frames per second hadn't yet evolved. When flat screens did evolve, it's a shame so much i50 (and i60) video was de-interlaced to p25 (and p60). It took me years to realise that DVD's of earlier TV material encoded interlaced, could be played at p50 or p60 by setting the software like VLC to turn on deinterlace (which, of course, sound wrong!). And then I found out that Handbrake could separate full interlaced frames into two deinterlaced frames to make enough progressive frames that would allow a copy to be watched looking as 'LIVE' as it originally did on transmission, but on ANY flat screen, including my phone! OMG how innovation has accelerated tech beyond my wildest dreams!!! [Shut up, Anthony and get back to work.]

Nice animation. The colour should be lighter blue and the BBC1 logo font should be a bit bolder.

There were several versions of this globe - including the darker blue one shown here used here. The BBC logo font is also correct.

The colour seems to have come out rather intense on this upload. Does anyone know the true colour, you know, in FFF1234#, or whatever, type format?
