I feel for David, I really do. I am a victim of the NHS too. I have had 25 cm worth of metal coils placed into my spermatic vein. I was NOT warned of any risks, expect for "spasms". I developed multiple neuralgias, including genitofemoral, ilioinguinal and pudendal neuralgia, which give me excruciating pain in the most sensitive areas of my body. I have spent 25k on treatments already. I have had to arrange private surgery (robotic laparoscopy) to remove the coils as the NHS refused to offer removal. I'm going to say to David: take the mesh out, whatever it takes. I also thought that removing the coils could make things worse. I had to have 5 pelvic and abdominal incisions to get them all out. BUT, I'd rather give my body a chance to heal naturally, which wouldn't have happened with the evil coils compressing and damaging nerves. I am still in pain, but I am hopeful that it will subside with time. These surgeons are murderers paid by us, in my view. They fail to adhere to any ethical standards, and get away with virtually anything, like destroying this poor's man life. Get the mesh out of your system David and give your body a chance to heal. Stay strong!

*Tips and information for recovering from Hernia Surgery if you live alone.* These are things you should do before you leave the house to go for surgery. This includes but is not limited to: Cook and prepare a week’s worth of meals and snacks before surgery. Meals that will be easy to pass through your digestive system. Things like vegetable soup with beans, carrots, celery…, oatmeal with prunes, egg salad, chicken salad, steamed carrots, broccoli, asparagus… low fat and low grease type foods. Snacks like apples, oranges, *ripe* bananas, all kinds of fruits and berries are good to keep things moving. Start taking a stool softener one or two days before surgery and then continue taking it when you get back home. Wear loose fitting clothes to the hospital and continue to do so when you get back home. Example: I took a shower that morning with an antibacterial soap, I wore clean socks, slippers, sweatpants with no underpants, a T-Shirt, and no jewelry of any kind. In a ziplock bag place your keys, ID card, a credit card, medical insurance cards, and give it to your driver to hold. Do not take your phone to surgery. Leave your phone at home, on your nightstand, and fully charged. Place something next to your toilet you can grab onto to help you get on and off the toilet. Do the same for your bed and other areas you may sit. Have toothpaste, toothbrush, and floss out and ready to use. A glass to use for water to rinse out your mouth. You’re not going to be able to bend over to _cup water_ into your hands. If you don’t already have a _grabber,_ get one. Place a thermometer on your nightstand and make sure it is in working order. Have on hand at least two ice packs that you can wrap a clean cloth around to put over the location of surgery and rotate them from the freezer as needed. This will keep the swelling down. Read your after surgery instructions and follow them. Listen to your doctor and follow his/her orders. Keep the wound area clean and GENTALY clean it with an antibacterial soap every morning and again before you go to bed at night. Have clean sheets on your bed. The next day get up and walk but be careful. I walked outside twice around the cul-de-sac four times a day starting the day right after surgery. Twice in the morning, once in the afternoon, and then again in the evening. Have plenty of water and Gatorade on hand, and before you leave for surgery place a few bottles on your nightstand, computer desk, kitchen table, kitchen counters, your television chair, and in your refrigerator. Drink plenty of liquids. At least four bottles per day. Take pain medication as needed but don’t overdo it. All pain medications can cause constipation and trust me, you don’t want that. A list of movies you may want to watch. I am not going to sugarcoat this for you. It’s going to be hard. The first three days are not going to be pretty, they are hard and tough, so be ready. It gets easier on your fourth day. Good luck and I hope this helps.

@@amethystfeathers7324 Thank you for your concern. I had the surgery back in July of 2024 so I am fully recovered now with no complications. The first three recovery days are pretty tough and for some reason the forth day is markedly better in a positive way. If you follow my suggestions plus any of your own you come up with, you should be fine. Getting out of bed was the hardest part for me. I had to CAREFULLY role out. When you do this make sure you have something sturdy near-by to grab onto as you stand up. I put out the word for people NOT to come and visit me as it is difficult for me to move around and talk and I don't need to be getting up to answer doors all day. Besides, I might be resting or napping. I told them that if I needed anything I would reach out to them. All the best.

My mother is currently awaiting her 5th revision surgery for the paritex mesh. Implanted in 2013. She is still changing wound dressing from her bowel obstruction surgery on 6/21/18. Moreover, she has 3 pieces of that mesh showing on her abdominal area. Due to the MDL litigation in the supreme court's, our case is tolled. If something doesn't change shortly this might be a wrongful death case. Sad to say.

I have big belly and low stage liver cirrhosis, so I don't want to make it worse. I have arthritis in neck, shoulders, and lower back.. I just want the pain to end, watching this makes me happy to be American. The medical system kinda sucks here but Canada OMG, I'M SO SORRY 😢

I’m with you Sarah. Know your body!! I’m 67 and was raised to treat doctors as gods. My body reacts to foreign objects. Example I’m a surfer and needed operations on my wrists due to huge lumps on my them. Luckily in Canada you have lengthy waiting times for any surgery.I purchased a new wetsuit without tight wrist seals and a month later lumps gone. I still run 10 k every day at dawn with my inguinal hernia and it will have to give me a lot of pain (minimal for years) before I line up for surgery. My body also rejects cheap jewelry.

I chose the no mesh option yesterday when i got operated for umbilical hernia. The doctor was seriously against it but i told him i dont want foreign objects in my body that dont belong there, he eventually agreed but told me he'd be seeing me soon for another surgery. They really try to force into placing that shitty mesh and i dont know how long this will hold but i have a good feeling about it. He removed the obstruction and just closed the 1,5cm hole below my belly button. Time will tell but I'm happy i didnt place the mesh, all i hear are negative things about it

@@9hills48 I got a non mesh surgery in January, and it went perfectly as far as I can tell. It’s important to really take your time with recovery, eat well and lose weight if you’re fat. I felt as if I could run or lift weights after a week but I knew it wasn’t the right thing to do. I walked straight away, though. Keep active but no impact sports or weights. People trying to recover too quick and surgeons not doing enough surgeries are probably the reason there are most recurrences. Your guy didn’t sound like an expert, he’s probably just trying to cover his own back if there was a recurrence. Mesh are a quick fix but as you said, fuck having a foreign object unless absolutely necessary.

As I understand, the patient has got involved and affected the inguinal nerve. It has no exact relation with the mesh, but closely related to anatomy, the body reaction to the trauma and perhaps surgical technique. It's a rear, but not unknown complication even from before the mesh period.

I have a question are here you guys blaming the mesh but not blaming the doctor that perform the surgery. I’m saying this because I went a clinic where there’s only two doctors that been doing mesh surgery’s for more than 20 years and I told him that I didn’t wanted the mesh and he said that the mesh is a better option. My brother had a hernia surgery 10 years ago he has the mesh and he said he has no issues. Can someone honestly explain? Thank you

There are thousands of lawsuits in regard to mesh. I have intolerance for nickel, penicillin, voltaren, latex plasters and there's no way I would ever have mesh in my body. There are a massive amount of lawsuits from women whose lives have been wrecked by mesh used in gyn surgeries. All the surgeons can't be incompetent. It's outrageous that it's still being used when they KNOW how it can breakdown and migrate.

How did the surgery all go, if some or any of you still went for the mesh surgery? We are advised to get the gallbladder removed before the mesh implant for the belly button and groin areas, for prevention of infection. 12-30% complication rate is way too risky. What is the safer alternative, anyone?

It broke up and attached to my bowel i was not told this when i complained of so much pain. 3 mths later as an emergency i had another bigger mesh Dynamesh put in to fix things. These were done by keyhole. While still in hospital a few days later was rushed to theatre with complications. Big incision open surgery. The second mesh was able to be removed and som e staples that were used. The first mesh had broken up causing 2 obstructions to my bowel.2011 have had more surgeries part of my bowel removed as i write this Aug 2024 have just spent 5 days in surgical assessment unit .i now have 3 hernias and dont know what the future holds.
