This is by far the slickest introduction to any programme I’ve ever seen. The BBC really outdid themselves here, the graphics are spot on, the timings are great, but most of all - the remix of the classic election music is phenomenal. I don’t think people realise how good it is!

The only slight disappointment was stating the Tories won 365 seats last time, when it was more after the notional boundary changes to 372 and was a slight inaccuracy in Jeremy Vine’s analysis… a point of pedantry I know

First time it was used was back in 1979, great to see it's still being used.

@@ant647448336 Original Rick W recording was used, with edits in 79, 83, 92. In 87 they just played it as recorded and faded it out. In 97 and 2005 they used re-recordings (97 by Rick himself), in 2001 there was a generic piece of arty farty music with an odd time sig. In 2010, 2015 and 2017, plus the EU referendum, they used their own Election theme before bringing a re-imagined version of Arthur back, complete with David Lowe embellishments, for 2019. This year it's a slight re-working of that last theme which doesn't quite follow the original Arthur structure but sounds more authentic than 97 or 2005.

Love the giant coloured pyramid hovering menacingly over the Houses of Parliament. Doctor Who needs to take a lesson on how to build suspense from that! Also love the formation of the 24 logo from the pyramid shape.
