No matter what happened in that final football came home that summer, will never forget the Sterling opener against Croatia the Germany win, Kane v Denmark, Shaw sending us into ecstasy in the first few minutes of the final. Like Sir Bobby said we was a whisker away.

I am not that fussed about the England team, it's a club sport for me, but I have to say that as a Sheffield lad this brought a tear to my eye at the time. Such a shame they couldn't lift the trophy. Another chance on Sunday for some of them, and I really hope they do it this time.

sadly there were some fans that behaved disgracefully. But not all of the supporters are like that; I personally know people, families, that went to that final and were heartbroken by the result then frightened by the choas that came after. Judging all fans by the standards of the worst would be like saying all Italians are racists because you have rightwing parties with large voter shares, or that Mussolini is emblematic of Italy. Its nonsensical to make such generalisations.
