2012 - best formula 1 season in recent history. Every race was a lottery, car performance changed - mclaren had the edge one week, then ferrari, then lotus, then red bull, even mercedes had the best car at one point. After I saw such a fantastic finale at Brazil 2012 on the BBC they played this song at the end and it was stuck in my head for weeks. 2010 was good in terms of more championship contenders, but the racing itself was boring aside from 1 or 2 races. 2012 was the perfect season.

"Takes you home". Yes. That's it. No matter how old, no matter where I am. Watching a F1 race will always make me feel that kid, eating a fresh bread, seating in front of the tv on a Sunday morning (the European races use to start 9AM at Brazil).

I remember seeing this video for the first time on monday after Brazilian grand prix from 2012. I was in Interlagos, saw that amazing race, Michael's last race ever, and after so many years it still touches me a lot. I miss that era.

What a season. Too bad the last 2-3 years have been so boring. It's not good watching McLaren struggle, Ferrari get thwarted and Red Bull slipping backwards. F1 needs their competition. For my Dad, it was always Senna/Mansell/Prost that lived in his memory. For me, it will be the battles between Vettel, Alonso, Button, Hamilton, Webber etc that will live on for years after they're all gone. 2012 was the pinnacle of that competition and this 'outro' captured a classic season perfectly.

Unfortunately I wasn’t around to follow Michael’s Benetton years(another era that I really like!) and only began to watch F1 in 2009 but 2010-2012 will always be the golden era to me. My childhood heroes Seb and Schumi were driving, every race weekend felt sooooo special and Seb won so much. I still love the sport, but 2010-2012 can’t ever be topped. I was just a kid, but I loved Formula One more than almost anything at the time😃 This is MY Formula One. This is my childhood. These times were beyond special. This song takes me back. So many memories and emotions.

All differences aside. Vettel and Alonso gave us(the fans) a brilliant season. They fought hard until the end the victory was sweet and the loss was bitter. This is how it is supposed to be, not clearing the titles weeks ahead of the final race. Next year I hope to see a repeat of this level of competition. F1 hasn't been so interesting since before the schumi years. From 2009 ever since BBC returned F1 has been amazing. Hopefully years to come as well.

I also agree Alonso has been the best, even though I never liked him since his attitude at McLaren. He's brought out huge performance from a bad Ferrari car this year and should have won the championship, yet was denied due to being involved in incidents that wasn't his fault.

Alonso was the least deserving of the bunch by far. His luck and his crazy good Ferrari (Merc-like dominant in the rain) from Spain on were the only things that gave him a chance, and his lack of skill in Japan, Abu Dhabi and Brazil are what made up for it in the end. Vettel and Hamilton were both far more deserving. Hamilton was seriously robbed by the pit crew and the car failures that year.

I recently acquired the entire 2010 season and watching it the second time around it's unbelievable. No kers or drs either it was pure.
