When the films were hit the cronies or Chamchas were in the main reason for his downfall..& Rajesh Khanna after the movie's became hits mostly because of Kishore Dada songs he turned Arrogant.. With the same Producers who once signed him..even in the heavy rains the Poor Producers or their Personal Assistant would wait in Queue outside his Carter Road bungalow & he used to make them wait for hrs on end..

Educated he was, but fame and popularity got into his head. And a group of 'friends' who made him believe he was indispensable to hindi movie makers encouraged daily late night drinking parties which resulted in him ignoring work schedules. He walked in and out as per his mood swings causing huge losses to producers. And then Amitabh Bachchan arrived. He did not have the looks but no lack of talent, discipline to timekeeping and that baritone voice. Slowly Rajesh faded away from hindi cinema.

Amitabh gave 30 clean hits between 1973 to 1990. Rajesh gave 50 percent of these hits in first 2 years 1969 to 1971( most solo hits) . He took another 19 years to give another 15 hits . Thus amitabhs first clean 30 hits took 17 years and rajesh took 21 years for the same. But the first two to 3 years of Rajesh created an impact like no other star could in the history of Indian cinema. Anyone in his place who tasted such success in such short time can become arrogant. Rajesh was human and some arrogance is pardonable.

The difference between the two is Rajesh’s hits were masterpieces like Safar, khamushi, Avishkar, Dushman, Itefaq, Amar Prem, Anand. These were art movies that became blockbusters because of Rajesh’s great acting. Amitabh barely has any good movies to his credit. His movies are mostly masala tacky movies mostly for the front benchers.
