Today, we're taking a nostalgic journey with a beautifully rebuilt 1963 Ford Consul Capri. This isn't your average restoration - it's a labor of love by the dedicated Ford Consul Classic Club. Under the hood, it's got the heart of a GT, even though it's not a GT version. But what makes this car truly special is its poignant backstory. The original owner, Rob King, sadly passed away before the car was completed. But his passion for Consul Capri's lived on through Bobbie, who took up the mantle to see the car completed. #fordconsulcapri

I agree with Peter, don't sell it, you should let it be adopted under what is from this point forward known as 'Bobby's Classic Car Law!! Your rights under this new law are: You must be allowed 'visitation rights'. They are awarded to the parent (in this case Bobby) who no longer has custody of their child. Furthermore, it is the right of the child (Consul Capri) to have access to its parent which includes the biological mother (Bobby). The Mother's visitation rights therefore grant them the opportunity to spend as much time with their child as they require to live a happy life. Great video Adam, keep them coming.

If ever a car could be described as 'pretty' - it's this! As a child my Mum was friends with a lovely couple who worked for Ford and had numerous models.....so I was lucky enough to travel in their Consul Capri.

This was our family car in the early 70s, as a child I loved it and it was so beautiful and different to everyone else s car. Family holidays on m6 up to Blackpool. Me and my older sister in the back on the bench seat. My father kept it until the seatbelt law came in and then he sold it and got a Vauxhall viva estate car, Vauxhall was not the company then, like they are today. The consul was very sorely missed and is still mentioned in our family with great love even today. Sadly dad died early 90s but always said it was his best car he ever owned. Maybe one day I will have an opportunity to buy and keep one safe and loved again. Thanks for the memories. Just subscribed to your channel.

We have had ours over 35 years. I bought it when we first met, and it was our wedding car in 1993. It has only ever had a light restoration, with no welding underneath required. It's a 1962 model, the same year as my wife was born. They are both growing old gracefully!

Wow! Stumbled upon this amazing video, I love it! My dad had a 63 Consul Capri 333EYL red with white roof, silver/grey internals. So many memories. I have a photo of me and him stood next to it. The weird this when I was about 5 I left my teeth marks in the dash, I tried to bite a chunk out of it!! I jab no idea where it is now but at the time we lived in West Hertfordshire. ❤

Found this by accident. We got these in NZ along with the 315 Four door. A mate of mine had one years ago, a 315 four door. Was a relatively expensive car and flashy compared to some of the staid English stuff at the time, 1340cc engine. It had the "duck back" window like the Anglia 105E. Interestingly Dagenham pinched this rear window idea of Ford USA's Lincoln / Mercury "Breezeway" models. Now subscribed.

Mum had one when i was a kid. I wish i still had it !!😢 Red, white roof, a white pinstripe? White wall tyres with chrome hubcaps. Very smart. Got us to the coasts for family holidays. If dropped off at school kids would say "its the Grease car!" 😂 It got nicked twice by respectful thieves (those were the days) found a mile up the road, locked with £5 petrol money and a thank you note!! Mum got a crook lock and would come indoors with the distributor/coil? lump of wire? Mum needed different car for cash and carry & greyhound as well as Nan !! It was sold to a rock a billy young man. Ive just got a vanguard model replica to mither over!! 😢 DONT SELL IT !! You will regret it !!

Circa 1981 at the staff car park of Johnsons Wax, Frimley Surrey. A staff member took pride over his Consul Classic which he had owned for years. One icey winters morning another staff member driving his MK11 Cortina in the carpark couldn't stop and slid / ploughed into the Classic. It was in a sorry state to say the least. Bob the owner was absolutely gutted. I never knew the outcome if the car was written off or not.

When I was 4 my dad had a ford classic, and yes I felt we must have SuperCar. One day my uncle turned up in his car, a Consul Capri. My uncle took me out for a spin. It was amazing. When we got back, all my school mates wanted a ride and see these two, now iconic, vehicles nose to tail. My dad would not tell me where the petrol cap was for ages, probably sensible!

Beautiful car, I'm just finishing restoring my 1963 Capri which has been family owned since new. It's been painted original colour ,Lime Green with white roof and like Bobby's car has red interior. I learnt to drive in my Capri in 1976 but then fell into disrepair and stored until about 10 years ago when I started to plan its restoration.Capri will be finished this summer and I look forward to driving it soon.

Bobbie seems like a wonderful Capri owner and should keep it. I'd love it but have my own which is a stuggle to finish. In Canada these things are pretty scarce, I think every owner could ride around in one car. I was a Ford apprentice in the mid seventies, the odd Classic or Capri came into the workshop. Sadly lots of rough cars were cannibalized for their 1500cc engines and disc front brakes to build hot Anglia's. I did see a Capri fitted with a Lotus Twin cam engine, the owner claimed it was a Boreham built car, for Essex police.

My father had a red Capri when I was a teenager and we fell in love with the shape. So when a Daytona Yellow model came up when I was at university we had to have it! As you said the boot is enormous and we used to carry two trunks to and from home at each holiday. One time I carried a friends Cortina engine in the boot back from being reconditioned. It is/was greatly underpowered for a car of this size, I swapped the 1340 and it’s steering column shift for a Cortina 1500 and a floor shift, this was a big improvement. My sister had it after I had it but sadly it proved too troublesome to keep on the road 😢

I bought a beautiful RED GT in 1970/71 but it only had a 4-pot 1600 so I installed a 4.2 litre from a wrecked "E" Type and upgraded suspension brakes wheels tyres etc which made it go like a RED car should go Zooooommmmmmmm

Ford have produced some iconic cars. This was the first ford that I thought wow, when I saw it. I was only about 9 or 10 and there were still a few of them about then. I also love the Corsair, 1050s Consuls, early 60s Zephyrs and Zodiacs, the Anglia, 1969 Zodiac, the iconic Mk1 Granada Coupe, the (other) Capri and Mk1,2 and 3 Cortinas! I am a solid Alfa Romeo fan. My son has a Fiesta ST, and I am slowly getting an itch to buy another Ford. Not a new one. Where can I get one of these beautiful Classic Capris?

I'm in America and saw a picture of the Capri in a book and imediately thought it was patterned after the 1961 Ford Galaxie. Either way, it is a cute little bugger! I'd buy one...if I could find one!

It was originally to be called the Sunbird, as it took influences from a 1960 Ford Sunliner (rear) and a 1960 Ford Thunderbird (front), but for some reason it was called the Consul Capri.

I once owned a beautiful one of these. It had been fitted with a 1600cc cross flow engine, Not the standard engine, but faster …. My one was ermine white , lovely memories eh … It was way ahead of its time. And guess what. I owned Two Chevy Impala’s too, both We’re stunning examples of American Motorcar history. They don’t make em like that anymore nor will they ever again …. I’m sure my capri number plate ended … 121. I bought it from a garage just outside Brentwood Essex for £250 … crazy eh. But that was a lot of money back then

My dads Classic had a big long gearstick that was bent backwards it looked great but the stick sheared off from the selector at the base. It was bergundy white a white roof, the seats were great and burgundy and the horn was a chrome rim that ran around the inside of the steering wheel.

As someone with family well entrenched in the 1960s/70s UK Ford Motor Company - manufacturing and design - the Classic and thus Capri were too expensive in manufacture. The Mark 1 Cortina was cheaper to produce - hence the Classic/Capri production was halted. Just compare the quality of the body panels, interior etc al.

A lovely car and so blessed with the fifties diner style. In North America where I live Ford would not have dared, copying so closely, a GM look. Interesting that they would copy a GM look for the British market. Just a thought to consider. GM, Ford, and Chrysler built cars in North America. The Canada US auto pact insured North American production which included large factories in Ontario and Quebec Canada. It is important to keep in mind that so called American cars were North American with huge quantities of parts and whole vehicles moving across the Ambassador Bridge between Windsor Ontario and Detroit Michigan. The auto trade was massive and fueled trade as the world had never seen before. True mass production on a grand scale between countries. I'm sure most British people don't know this.

My dad had one of these before I was born, and sadly for him when I arrived in 1973, he replaced it with a mk2 Escort. He always speaks fondly of his Capri, I must ask him for the registration to see if it still out there somewhere. His ended up with a brand new bigger engine from his local Ford dealer, Fry’s of Lewisham after he blew up the original. I’m currently on the hunt for a Morris Minor Traveller, but I’ve always had a soft spot for these too and with my dad currently in hospital maybe, just maybe….
