I am pleased and proud to say that I use Terry's theme music, 'Just Like That', on my community radio shows, because it is a cracking piece of music and we must keep these things going. Too much has been lost already.

Note the quick blast of 'Somewhere in Hollywood' by 10cc prior to David Hamilton's spoken jingle.

Responding to David Hamilton's "1977" jingle Steve Wright claims he never mentions the year on a regular basis. Could this be the same DJ who used to have a jingle "True Stories: 1990" whilst on Radio 1?

What about the JY Prog? Jimmy Young is never given his due by the BBC. And who ousted him? An overpaid Nobody who survives to this day. Let’s hear it for Jim! TTFN...

Agree you you that JY was a great broadcaster. I guess he didn't feature in this sequence because his shows were mainly late morning or around lunchtime

Ray Moore was great in the mornings. Remember him for his Bog Eyed Jogs in the early days of Children in Need.

+andrew hudson Being entirely on FM now also does help as well. Too many were just stuck in their 909 or 693 medium wave ways way back then to realise that not only did the music sound a lot better on FM than how they were listening to it medium wave, but also the fact that the schedule didn't constantly give way to sport on FM, apart from midweek horse racing where they sent Gloria Hunniford off to the races to do her show from there.

Amazed by that statement. Zoe ball? Vanessa Feltz? Whilst a whole host of legends have passed. The only one left with any warm, genuine personality & talent is Ken Bruce.

@@thaiscottie65 Ken is a National Treasure of course but I really enjoy Sara Cox's show & Gary Davies' Sounds of the 80s. At the weekend its hard to beat Tony Blackburn, Paul Gambaccini, Johnny Walker & Paul O'Grady. I do wish they'd take O J Borg away from the graveyard shift and give him own his own daytime show. The BBC Sounds app helps with that problem of course.
