Quite simply the best drama ever ever made. Danilea and Richard so perfect in the roles. The story itself is an absolute picture of the harsh life in 19th century English factory industry but here illuminated by Margaret's purity and high principles and John's deep love for her. Just perfect and amazing beautiful music. I love it.

Wow. Everyone in the comments section riffing on their love of “north bound train” I’m here for “Bouchers death” sobbing and “I’ve seen hell” sobbing yet harder. Love north and south so much. Oh the pain the paaaaain!!!!!! Also fucking love Nicholas Higgins. A working man portrayed with dignity very rarely shown in period drama. No one (bar Fanny) is a caricature. Goodbye

This is up there with the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice as two examples of utterly perfect period dramas.

But don’t you just wonder what Thornton’s mother said when he came home with Margaret in tow? “ Mom, I’m back to loving Miss Hale and guess what? Turns out we were wrong and she’s actually still virtuous and OMG she has a pile of money now so she’s saving the mill and our house and there’s nowhere for her to stay tonight so how about we put her up in Fanny’s old room until we have time to get married?” Think The Grande Popsicle would warm up to her?

Totally agree.it’s one of my favourite books and this adaptation is absolutely the bestDaniela and Richard both deserved settings and BAFTAs. and the music was just beautiful. Well done Simon Eliot for the stunning designs and well earned BAFTA. Just wish it is shown more on TV . Now trying to make up my own playlist for it. Than,s for this soundtrack,

Pangga Mahal all great stories leave you wanting more - its called using your imagination - or perhaps these days "fan fic" - the novel was wonderful - the BBC miniseries was breathtakingly beautiful - leave it at that - nothing can compare nor should it - isn't it enough to know that Margaret and John will be together and that Higgins & Mary will be back in their lives - come on - just imagine Dixon and Mrs Thorton (John's mother) under the same roof 🙄😅 now that really does take some imagining 😊🤗
