Decades ago when I was learning pottery and digesting everything I could from Leach, Hamada, Cardew, and Casson and emulating them I pretty much dissed Caiger-Smith as being over decorated! Boy, what a young ass I was!! In the decades since I cultivated an appreciation for the more colorfully decorated Italian and Moroccan type pottery…. I should have paid much more closer attention to Caiger-Smith!!! I also love Mick Casson’s work! I worked very hard to learn how to pull handles on pitchers and mugs like he does!!

Its amazing how quick video clips make their way round the world these days. This is definitely a clip from one of my tapes (I can tell from the dropouts in various places) Im not complaining I just find it fascinating how these things travel and become so widely available. :-)

Great to find these here - I remember them as being in Black & White? Had lunch with Alan a couple of weeks ago. Still very sprightly and just published his latest book on the life and work of Said el Sadr - fantastic egyptian lutre warepotter.
