I remember “Rock Around The Clock” well, presented by Hepworth, Ellen and Kershaw. They had the TV premiere of Derek Jarman’s “The Queen is Dead”, and the first broadcast of the promo film for “Strawberry Fields Forever” for nearly 20 years.

I’ve seen one from the BBC1 COW era where they showed international cricket coverage all night to close down at 6:45am!

Since when did BBC2 sign off at the beginning of the broadcasting day schedule at 6:00am in the morning??? (because due to the 13-hours Rock Around The Clock concert telethon donating money to local charity that aired that night from 5:20pm-6:00am) That has to be a record for the latest ever closedown in British television history

It isn’t a record. At some point in the COW era, BBC1 closed down at 6:45am after some live cricket coverage from India. It was on a Sunday morning so they opened up again at 8am.
