It's sad that the people of Nashville couldn't recognize a great talent like Doug. So many good musicians get passed over because they are not commercial enough. Real music comes from the heart, and that's what sells me, just like it did for the people from Sweden. I wish Doug all the success he deserves. Goin' down to the river is a GREAT song!!!! Sing on Doug cause I'll be listening

You have to realize that EVERYONE in Nashville has talent. So in many ways Nashville is a horrible place to be "discovered." Nashville is a great place to get better at your craft, how can you not be with so much great music around you, but there are a lot of excellent singer-songwriters.

True Larry, everyone in Nashville is extremely talented, I didn't mean to say that they weren't. Doug is just as talented and should have been recognized a long time ago as well as most of the struggling artists out there today. I'm one of them.

I am from Kentucky. I Heard Down to the River on Dish Network on one of the music channels for New and Upcoming Artists during work one day and didn't know anything about him other than the Conviction in his voice that led me searching for it instantly on KZbin and Itunes....I fell in love with the song and his voice.....

If I may try to explain Swedes deep rooted affection for blues, being a swede myself. We live in cold and darkness for 6 months of the year. Our country is big, but sparsely populated. In many ways we identify ourselves with loneliness, much more than some chippery upbeat togetherness. This is my theory at least. Why those blue notes hits us deep, in our very blood and soul. Pardon bad English.

Us Swedes are a very humanist society. If we can help, we help. Poverty has been nearly non-existent in Sweden, and so we don't quite know how to relate to it. Well, at least until now, because with the massive immigration of late (another way us Swedes want to help) this is not as rare anymore, but the national mindset is still there. What I mean by that is how all Swedes feel that it is every human's right to live a decent life, and so we feel the urge to help when we see people in need. Even if we can't help everyone, we feel joy and pride whenever we can. I believe this is a main reason of Doug's success in Sweden, apart from his great music, of course. I believe the rest of the world could learn a little from Swedish solidarity. The world would be a better place.

Country is quite big in Sweden. Johnny Cash even recorded an album at a Swedish prison: "Live at Österåker". We love American country, rockabilly and rock'n'roll. Many people living in the countryside of Sweden has the Confederate flag in their old Volvo cars or typed at their shirts. Our countryside is like "Europe's Alabama".

I'm a swede and I love country music. What is wrong with that? I think Doug is great but Merle and George are my favourites.
