I saw their set at Summer Fest in 2014 and they sounded as good live as their record. That's very impressive considering all the vocal duties in these tunes. Loved their early stuff too but always a fan when a band can evolve and create a sound of their own. AM is one of my favorite rock albums and its only been out for 9 years.

All the people sayin 'It's good, but there's something missing' this is why: The Arctic Monkeys perform their music. It's not on a track, it's not produced and tweaked, it's proper music. They are one of the only bands that when they say 'live' they mean 'live'. Sure, this means you can't get all those nice electric sounds, but that's not what the Monkeys are about! The 'anti-climax' or 'disappointment' is just the fact that fake, produced (but by no means bad, I love that stuff!) music has taken over the industry, and so you expect that. I still live the Arctic Monkeys, even when their style changes (which it does with basically every album) but other styles, artists and sounds are good. Some I do like, others I don't, that's my opinion. Please don't start a war in the replies, I'm just trying to explain the view of the critics and say why they think that (or at least why I think they think that) and I do disagree, the Monkeys deliver every time, and I hope this helps.

I really don't understand comments like JJ Harvey's putting Arctic Monkeys down. Yes AM is different from their first albums. It's like the equivalent of when The Strokes came out with Angles imo. If you don't like them anymore good for you because they have a strong following and the UK loves them. It's not like they're switching their genre to some Miley Cyrus bs. It just bothers me when people say things like, "AM is a desperate album with no originality and way too much falsetto rubbish," because those men certainly have a lot of talent and originality. This is just my opinion. In a lot of interviews he said that he's still nervous and he can't communicate easily. He said that everybody thinks that if you are a successfull musician and you have gigs often that means you have no problem because you're used to it, but that's not always true. I personally think he is a very shy guy. He doesn't like interviews, speeches, awards and being the centre of attention and as says "opening his presents in front of people".

I know that he says he's shy etc, I get that, but he's 28 yo, not a teenager any more. Obviously he's tried to make some changes, got a more gutsy look, some "dancing" moves (I appreciate he's trying, although he's not a natural dancer). In my opinion, If he had a bit more charisma/presence on stage, the shows would be 5 stars, instead of 4-4.5 stars. In saying all that, if I get the opportunity to see them live again, I definitely will.
