He died in the last episode of season 2. That was one of the best episodes in the entire serial! And count Odda played a major role there. And died: as a traitor to the king and all his descendants, but as a hero for Uhtred and all the viewers who realised what Odda did for the sake of Wessex!

@@radalex2002 Did he die? I thought Alfred dismissed him to his estate, for him to live out the rest of his life. I could be wrong, its been a while
@radalex20022 жыл бұрын
@@steveperez178 No, he died in episode 8 of season 2. As I remember, Alfred sent count Odda to his estate. But count Odda, instead of going there, gathered his forces and advanced to Beamfleot. King Alfred realized that as soon as Odda's army will approach Beamfleot, the danes would realize that there would be no ransom. And in this case, most likely, they will kill the princess Aethelflaed. Alfred couldn't let that happen. Therefore, he gathered his army and moved after count Odda to stop him. The two armies met at Beamfleot, just at the moment when Uhtred and his men freed the Princess Ethelflaed and got out of the fortress. The Danes who pursued them attacked the army of King Alfred and count Odda, but were defeated. Thus, count Odda actually "forced" king Alfred to gather an army and come to Beamfleot. Thanks to count Odda king Alfred won a great victory and was able to free his daughter. However, after the victory, count Odda was imprisoned. He was accused of treason because he gathered his army and advanced to Beamfleot without the orders of his king. Moreover, he violated Alfred's orders. But in doing so, he saved Wessex. However, he was still accused of treason, put in prison and had to stand trial. But Count Odda did not want to listen to false accusations (or he did not want to put his king in a difficult position). Therefore, Odda committed suicide in prison. P.S. In my opinion that was one of the best episodes so far in the whole show!

@Gaiscioch118 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean by "historic evidence". You're thinking of a label, like a smith, a wright, a peasant, a soldier? "Hello, I am a berzerker, descended from a long line of berzerkers", that kind of thing? Your statement is ambiguous, because to be berzerk is simply a psycho-physiological condition, perhaps brought on by psychoactive drugs before battle. Sure, such frenzied, bearskin-clad fighting men were mythological to a point, as told by the Icelandic historian and poet Snorri Sturluson in his Ynglinga saga for example. But check out the etymology of the Nordic word berserkergang. It was an attributed adjective for such ferocity witnessed in many a battle.

@@calebhall383 I'm just pointing out how it's clearly like that for safety reasons with the actors it's literally round that would not pierce someone in reality would it 😂
@calebhall3834 жыл бұрын
@James T it’s actually an historically accurate weapon. It’s not meant for thrusting but for slicing and chopping; however, you can still stab somebody if you thrust hard enough. Heavy armor wasn’t super common, it was mostly leather. But what was common was the use of wooden shields so they made swords that could chop pieces off of it. Also with it being rounded makes the sword more sturdy. As time and armor evolved, swords did as well. And besides, this show is too good to be that lazy. If they wanted pointed tips then they definitely would have portrayed their weapons as such 😂.
