When your husband is a multimillionaire, life can be something of a fairy tale but when it all comes crashing down, it seems the bigger the money, the bigger the fight. Michelle Young has clocked up 65 court hearings and 13 sets of lawyers in her battle with her ex-husband. And 11 years on, she still hasn't given up.

I made a fair amount of money in a business I had and I lived a pretty high life.then through one bad investment I lost everything.to go from that high life back down to nothing was soul destroying. I just started a new business in April and I'm hoping it can get me back .she should though have cut her losses and taken 25 or 30 .it would have been enough to build back up again but she got greedy as she thought he had a large stash off shore.i feel bad for her as I'm sure that thought punishes her every day

After she rejected that 30M and essentially said, “I’ve done work too,” provided a key hint into why she rejected the offer: the settlement wasn’t enough to settle her emotional investment. At that point, it wasn’t about the money. It was about satisfying her emotional needs. She wanted to feel like a champion but instead felt like, “this is it?” Her mental build-up of what she dreamed in how satisfactory it would be to crush her husband made that settlement offer uneventful in her mind. As a result, she may never get anything.

Raneeta's Blog what’s fair is her ending up even more in debt. She should’ve just cut her loss, and taken the 30M. The family courts aren’t to blame. They offered her a big chunk of cash, better than nothing. do you honestly believe that she needs all that phantom money? It’s not there, and she’s going to end up regretting shelling out all that cash the “army of lawyers” and investigators. Serves her right to keep pushing for money.

In fairness to her, he didn't have it before they were married. Not to mention the fact that her family helped him out financially, he was pretty much broke when they got together. Equally, I've read the judgment many times and see nothing to suggest that SY had £400 million or anything like it; MY was always on a loser with this case. He was, it seems, a bagman or fixer for the ultra wealthy, his share was therefore a relative pittance.

Yes, five years is a long marriage. I know dozens of couples who have divorced within 1 - 2 of their wedding day. UK law (feel free to study it) offers women the right to claim compensation (read: money) from their husband when the marriage ends. This time, the husband died and was able to avoid having to pay his wife millions (the money settled by the court).

I agree with you on that 100%, but sometimes the men don't give women money while in the marriage. They control the women by keeping them poor in the marriage. Yes they are driving nice cars or living in a nice house, but it's all in his name, so he has 100% of the control. If that was the case with her, then she should've gone to school and gotten her degree in something. If that wasn't the case and he was giving her money throughout the marriage, then she should've saved and invested. She's just has greedy as he was.

In this day and age, I no longer feel sorry for women who willingly get into a relationship without a pot to piss in. I do not feel sorry for this women because in this day and age (we are about to hit the 2020's), women should know better.
@Amoroussparkle
@Amoroussparkle 5 жыл бұрын
Again, thats a very narrow-minded point of view. You are not a gold digger or "have nothing going for you" if you agreed upon your roles in a relationship. Most mature people discuss kids and finances before entering a marriage and starting a family together - because in most families each part have a different role/responsibility. Being both parent and having a vivid career if not an option for all people. Which leaves: Who will be the breadwinner and who will look out for the kids. Many men still want/expect the woman to leave the workforce/education system, to stay home with the children for at least a few years. Which mankes it hard to come back. Many women also WANT to be a homekeeper by choice and a deal is struck within the relationship. When you make such a deal, its completely unreasonable to suddenly kick your spouse out, whether it's the man or the woman. That being said, you should protect yourself. Have him/her sign an agreement etc. on what your mutual agreement is. I feel like comments like yours are from people who are very young.
@noname89636
@noname89636 5 жыл бұрын
@@Amoroussparkle ....I'm not very young. It's one thing if the woman ALREADY had a career and THEN chose to stay home. It's another thing if she NEVER had shit to begin with and DIDN'T THINK before getting into the relationship about the long term repercussions. Also, I know too many women who still get a degree online, or relevant certificates, once the children reach pre-school age. She did not plan or think and that is what I am talking about.
@noname89636

@@Amoroussparkle .....Also, you stated,"Many women also WANT to be a homekeeper by choice and a deal is struck within the relationship. When you make such a deal, its completely unreasonable to suddenly kick your spouse out,".....You live in a fairy tale world if you think someone owes you something just because you are married to them or make a deal. Now I didn't say beat up someone, but no one is required to stay the same or remain in agreement because no such law says so. It may be unethical to change, but no man or woman is required to remain committed to someone. That is a Cinderella world that is NOT reality. Now again, I DID NOT say beat someone and abuse them, what I said was, no one is obligated to be with you or stay loyal to you (legally). The only legalities are to the children and alimony, plus any assets that are to be split. You are stupid if you go into a marriage thinking it's set for life.

She supported him while he built up their fortune. Do you think that the way she tended in him hand and foot didn’t benefit him in some way? She made his life at home as easy as possible. He said it himself, she did everything he wanted. Plus, she bore him his children and raised them herself. For a wealthy family, this woman worked like a dog for her husband and their children. He couldn’t have had a family without a wife like her. Wives that stay at home are not “gold diggers”. They provide the things the other needs at home and with the family. They also forgo any outside career if their own to do this. If you had to have hired help to do all that a wife does for no pay, you’d be spending your arse off. If you can’t see the value a wife at home provides, you are very narrow-minded.

Even after her divorced husband got publicly executed in a brutal fashion by the Russian mob, she still only concerned herself with gaining everything of his, even after he was dead clearly without a care in the world about how her children might’ve been feeling. Then she makes some crap up to use as a social crutch about how family courts don’t support women, when that’s literally what they were built for and what they’ve been doing for decades since divorce became popular, all because a judge couldn’t grant her assets that didn’t exist. Shes clearly completely delusional and I don’t see how anybody could make an emotional argument that this was to inflict pain on him, since he was already dead and in the worst way possible by being thrown off a building onto spiked railings by Eastern European hitmen. What sane or even very upset person would rightfully still continue to try and inflict pain on someone after that, I don’t care how many supermodels he fucked behind her back.

I was educated in England where I obtained my first law degree (undergraduate). I moved to Australia where I earned a second and a third law degree (one at undergraduate level the other at post grad level). One thing I have learned about the Anglo Saxon British Westminster style of government is that especially in law and politics there is too much dependence on legal and political theories. The courts today have departed from the idea of justice and fairness. They are very dogmatic and class ridden to the extent that it is an unwritten code that those lawyers who come from 'red brick' universities regardless of how good they are have little pull in the courts (save for some exceptions). The system of justice is corrupted. (Moral turpitude). They dispense with justice instead of dispensing justice. Judges are political, sexist, racist and class bigots. But because they are the unelected arm of government they can get away with it all. I assisted an Asian tycoon whose wife "settled in the UK" then got a divorce there grabbing the bulk of his empire via a favourable court decision in London. At settlement I worked out a deal whereby the wife got a little more than she had bargained for. I selected the properties and business interests that were likely to subject the owner to hefty capital gains liabilities and others where the tax liability in terms of income tax would fall and let her have it. The woman's lawyers were a large multi discipline firm. I never thought that in their greed they would overlook such consequences of a large undeserving property grab. I also penned in an option whereby the client could buy back from the woman those properties and shares if she found it difficult on her at some time in the future. No sooner than the announcement was made the price of the shares in hais main earner fell by 62% in a week. She was also saddled with debt and calls on loans to the company as a result of being the largest shareholder and thereby its guarantor as well. She sold back 70% of what she had received in settlement for a song under the option my client took at settlement. She tried suing her lawyers in negligence but the responsible partner and associate had jumped ship and the firm threatened to counter sue her if she went ahead. This poor woman does not have a lawyer capable of enforcing a judgment and the courts fall shy of assisting. This is the legacy of Margaret Thatcher.

Clearly the wife was too emotional to think clearly. When her husband called, she should have listened and let him finished. She should have accepted the offer and framed him in paying her up. That way she could have had the money and the evidence proving that he was keeping more money from her. With the legal fees and interest on loans she will end up with nothing.

But the money she would have taken would be illegal, and she would have accepted illegal money from then framed him and probably been seen as an accomplish. Then end up with her legal fees AND a prison sentence.

The husband with 43 millions or billions in money and assets he had enough money to pay off the judge and the whole system.
