She sang because her life depended on it. She has to turn away from the mic because the sheer volumes of air she pushed out would hit the mic and obscure her voice. That’s the level of power you’re dealing with. The commitment is total and that’s why she’s up there with the best singers of all time. Look at the honesty in her eyes. But also a consummate performer with total vocal control. She had the technical skill but she had the raw pain and ability to produce a feeling of awe and wonder in people. I’m just listening on a little iPhone and it still sends shivers down my spine and makes me weep. Wow.

For those who say sinead is miming, the implication is that the singing is too good to be done live, so that is quite a compliment. I am not seeing the miming. I have been as objective as possible but I am a pretty staunch fan so there will be some bias in there somewhere. I have gone over it and you can hear and see her go off the mic. I have got to say thanks though because it gave me the opportunity to really study what she does and she is brilliant!
