Just like was said in the interview, people think he has a Rocky/Rambo intellect in real life. I suppose his speech and accent goes some way towards it as well, but never judge a book....
@spenserclarke59562 ай бұрын
Sylvester Stallone is one of those people who come under the "Don't judge a book by the cover" banner. Because of his early life paralysis, which affected his speech, he was treated as unintelligent, more so with his bulk, which was as a result of working back his muscles following said previous medical issues. I was surprised to learn many years ago, that 'Rocky' was created by Stallone, and he 'blackmailed' himself into the role by not releasing the screenplay unless he got the role. That takes balls, but having endured such a disability and overcoming it, he has it in spades! I always like 'Sly', even though I never really got into the Rambo movies in my teens when they came out, as were my friends, although as I was into military stuff etc, I did buy a Rambo 'survival' Knife around '82 (which was a piece of crap! Lol!) Mind you, who the hell would allow a 12 year old to buy a 6 or 7inch fixed blade knife these days...or even back then? But such were the days. I recall being in a cinema in 1985/86 watching Rocky IV and my cousin and his mates were shouting out in favour of Rocky when Drago was being pummelled! Me, I quietly appreciated and enjoyed the revenge for Apollo Creed.

Strangely, one of the movies he was out promoting in 1982, ROCKY III, has one scene where there's a little *too much* of his intelligence in it: The beach scene between Rocky and Adrian. It's a strong scene, but we seem to be watching Sylvester Stallone in it and not Rocky Balboa. Apart from the punchdrunk drawl in his speech coming and going, we also get a self-aware Rocky a good 20-30 I.Q. points above normal for that character. We're watching Sylvester Stallone arguing with his wife, not Rocky. He reins it back in a couple of times, but it was definitely a rare case where his investment in the character as someone he personally identifies with (he made no secret of ROCKY III being about his own uneasy adjustment to sudden fame and fortune) made him slip out of character a bit and just straight up play the scene as Sly Stallone.
