If the birds fly too close to the water they get eaten too sometimes by even bigger fish. And those fish get eaten by sharks and killer whales. Nature is red in tooth and claw. And people want to remove humans from the planet in order to preserve the sublime horror of this balance why?

At least they enjoy a while, and surely better than those who hunt for them. But I suspect strongly that this reportage is false or pendent to give us a distorted idea. I believe flying fishes do fly even for joy. Exactly as in few seconds in the beginning, with the allegedly simulated predator. No doubt that film montage is a subjective management. Who know how much time those fishes spend in flying in delight and how much in escaping predators? And even in this case how they feel? A ski rider also is pressed by gravity but could enjoy, and some jet pilot liked fighting. Let's watch Mobula Rays high jumps, and dolphins ones: even captured and slave for visitors fun, in free time they sometime jump. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pauZq4Kvj9WMirs mobula rays

Not so, think birds are everywhere flying fish are? Its a rare sight but does occasionally happen, yet that they're not on the exctinction list as cod & salmon etc after 245 million yrs shows how being able to have more than one way to escape a larger fish is to fly, birds aren't around the oceans everywhere no more than the 240-65 million yr ago pterosaurs, they're the most adaptive modern fish & I would rather have two choices than one, even if by some odd coincidence some birds were flying nearby & saw, they didn't catch all the fish or even most so its still the best meathod of survival for a fish, some large fish jump out of rivers in America, its basically the same thing but the large American jumpers can't fly & might end up in someones boat or smashing someone in the face, better flying fish! 🐟

I've traveled as a chef on yachts and our decks were lit by low lights & in the morning, sadly, there would always be dead flying fish all over the deck, most likely trying to get away from all the predators that are always on the hunt for them. They are beautiful fish in flight. After I finished in the galley, would go topside and watch the dolphin playing in our bow wave, and before retiring for the night I would go aft to see the flying fish in the moonlight and count the seconds as they took to flight and stop counting as they collapsed their wing fins and reentered the water. This was what helped me unwind from a full days work. I also did my helm (watch) time, even though I didnt have to as I had a lot of other duties on board. I acted as ships nurse & where I was the only one that knew how to sew, and I don't faint at the sight of blood, so I was appointed to be the ships surgeon if the need ever arose, thankfully it wasn't necessary. There's so much beauty out on the ocean, but I've seen the other side as well, it can humble even the strongest & bravest man in seconds. The sea can be formidable! I am still on a vessel, a sailing vessel, & God has been so good to me. I've visited so many countries, met so many wonderful people & seen so many different types of dolphin playing on bow waves. I've lived a blessed life on the water & got through some frightening times as well, I know God was protecting me, He's my constant companion & for that I'm truly humbly grateful. 🙏👍🙌🕊🙆♀️🙋♀️

I kinda love how the flying fish just drop seamlessly back into the water when they see a frigatebird. And it must be pretty frustrating for the mahi-mahi to have a potential meal be centimeters in front of you only for it to constantly go airborne and evade capture.

Are you stupid lol. Maybe try to imagine how frustrating it is to evade a predator in water, and jump into the air only for another predator waiting for you, so you go back down. The chances of you surviving are next to nothing.

How did they evolve wings if they got picked off by birds? Seems like a poor adaptation for survival- having two enemies instead of one. Non-flying fish are still here.

Without the abilitiy to fly, they might have more than just 2 predators after them.
@theholybuttfungus59117 жыл бұрын
Well there's are far more predatory fish than predatory birds and it's not like the birds will always be there.
@flymasterA7 жыл бұрын
Fish feeding on schools attract birds from out of nowhere. I've watched it myself. To evolve to fly is suicide. Now to evolve moves and speed like Vasyl Lomenchenko, that would result in survival of the fittest and fastest. To evolve to cluster up in bait-balls is like deer evolving to live on target ranges. Bait-balls are easy pickings for a host of predators, and they'll feed until none are left. But if the 1000s of bait-fish would spread out and head for the horizon, predators would have to search them down individually over miles of oceans. Many would escape detection and breed more dispersers rather than schoolers.
