Flying fish can make powerful, self-propelled leaps out of water into air, where their long, wing-like fins enable gliding flight for considerable distances. It appears these Flying Fish are in a no win situation, picked off above the surface by Frigatebird's and devoured underwater by the Dorado.

At least they enjoy a while, and surely better than those who hunt for them. But I suspect strongly that this reportage is false or pendent to give us a distorted idea. I believe flying fishes do fly even for joy. Exactly as in few seconds in the beginning, with the allegedly simulated predator. No doubt that film montage is a subjective management. Who know how much time those fishes spend in flying in delight and how much in escaping predators? And even in this case how they feel? A ski rider also is pressed by gravity but could enjoy, and some jet pilot liked fighting. Fish feeding on schools attract birds from out of nowhere. I've watched it myself. To evolve to fly is suicide. Now to evolve moves and speed like Vasyl Lomenchenko, that would result in survival of the fittest and fastest. To evolve to cluster up in bait-balls is like deer evolving to live on target ranges. Bait-balls are easy pickings for a host of predators, and they'll feed until none are left. But if the 1000s of bait-fish would spread out and head for the horizon, predators would have to search them down individually over miles of oceans. Many would escape detection and breed more dispersers rather than schoolers.

They do flap their fins. But you just don't see it in this video on KZbin. I'm at my apartment watching planet earth : life: challenges of life . And they had a section about these guys and they were talking about the fish that fly and how they are targeted by larger fish and it's the same larger fish you see trying to eat them in this video and their defense against these larger fish to keep from being eaten is to fly in the air and they can fly up to 656 feet I forget how many meters that was but that's what it is in feet because I googled it . And they literally showed the fish flopping there since like a bird does and sometimes they glide I mean that's what if Birne does they flap their wings and then when they get the right kind of momentum they don't need to flap their wings they ride the air . So that's what the fish did they would fly by flapping and then they would just hang out and glide and go back under the water. They didn't show the burns trying to eat them they just showed that the fish work using their tails or whatever to push them up out of the water and then when they got high enough then they were flapping like a bird and then gliding and then going back under the water there was no birds but that's very true though. They do have the risk of getting attacked by the birds but sometimes the birds aren't there looking for them but a lot of the times the birds know what time of season/what time of year the fish come out and they will be looking for them but yeah. If you try to find clips I'm sure you will see if the clip exists you'll probably see them flap . They were literally flopping on TV once they got up out of the water they flapped their fins like they would be wings and then just glided on the air and then went back down if you find the right video I'm sure it'll have that
