1/ Slash (v): Negative meaning: cut something by knife violently Positive meaning: reduce something by significant amount To slash the risk of something 2/ Premature (a): earlier than expected or natural time Pre = before, mature = to be ready 3/ Run for your life: move as fast as possible away from danger Negative way: get out of/ move away from dangerous situation Positive way: doing helpful something now, the good result will come in future. A slow 50- minute jog a week is very effective to help live longer. It can not only slash the risk of health issues but also the premature dangers. Thus, we keep doing exercise to run for our life!

Hi. We get studies almost every day and each one has information to keep us healthy, but in the future we may hear a new study saying that running is dangerous. For example There are studies that say meat is so important for our lives, but at the same time there are studies saying the opposite.

I think that those who simply can't run, or have difficulties to do it, have obviously a bad health, so they die earlier. But in another point of view, those who run often, will not stop being able to run, if they like it. So they will carry on their health to remain able to run.

You never "cut" a cake or carrot. You should use the word "slice" for that. Respects from Mubushar Sulehria.
@bbclearningenglish4 жыл бұрын
Although we're sure chefs and cooks would agree with you, we commonly use 'cut' with 'cake'. In weddings there are often cake-cutting ceremonie where people gather to watch the bride and groom make the first cut (slice) into the cake. 😃

Slash. e.g. The quality of paper-making production slashed as the demand has grown by leaps and bounds in the one to two decades. Premature e.g. The football fans celebrated winners prematurely despite not knowing about which team win at the end of contest. Unfortunately, their favourite team couldn't receive an award in this competition. Run for your life e.g. There is a lion behind you! Run for your life All of them are in one sentence. e.g. If senior citizens take up jogging every morning as a gentle exercise, they could surely slash the risk of dying prematurely and keep running for their lives that provides a longer lifespan as well as a better quality of life.
