Hello to both of you Once again..three words similar to french words. i.e 1/ . to adapt = adapter or s'adapter. 2/ grave...= grave, sérieux...3/ to pay off : payer, rapporter. You know I am wondering if English isn't nearier to French than Spanish. I am stunned
@bbclearningenglish5 жыл бұрын
You're right - there are a surprising number of similarities in the English and French languages. Maybe we shouldn't be surprised when we consider how close the UK is to France! Along with Ireland, you are our closest neighbours, so maybe it is inevitable that we share some language..?
@brigittesaint-pe26045 жыл бұрын
@@bbclearningenglish It is a pleasure for me and not at all a reproach. I live in the Basque Country, thirty minutes from Spain, and I really wonder if English and French are not closer. When I started learning English, I thought it was very close to German. But, the more I learn it, the more I think it looks like French. I am very happy about that. I didn't know we were so close.

Hi Thanks Mr Dan and Ma'am Katherine as well. So we had three vocabulary Firstly, adapt ... last year when I got a new job,it took a short time to adapt with it. Secondly, gravely.... my dad talks gravely whenever he wants to explain his new decisions. Last but not least, pay off.... sure I moved from a country to another in order to search of such a good job and that paid me off because I finally got my favourite job. I'm on cloud nine because I understood what you have just explained, my greetings for all humans in BBC learning English channel.

I studied english hard to finally be able to leave a comment here in the comment section, being capable of expressing my thoughts through the use of English really gives me a feeling that everything I have done has paid off, considering the fact that I have had to adapt to my personal situation where I have to combine work and study. Nevertheless, I have never given up, not a single time, even during the hardest times, when I worked too much and become gravely ill, with no one there to safeguard me.
