The other day I saw an "eco smart garden", which was a pot with a light over it for growing herbs in the kitchen. I struggle to imagine a more ecologically unfriendly way of growing herbs.

There’s worse ways - check out how most vegetables are being grown, not just artificial light but also creating CO2 which is pumped into wintergarden type of spaces to make it all grow quicker, more steadier and bigger..

@@ralphralph2739 For massive farming, it requires a lot of land and a lot of water. This one requires less water and space. For the electricity, it should be doable with solar power. Of course this is not the only solution, this one is more suitable for area with less space such as Singapore.

give them financial incentive....if they green wash they get fined...personally i think if companies like zara h&m unilever etc want to do business in big markets like europe our government need to make it earned to do business here if they do not pay their workers well and if they are polluting said workers drinking water with toxic dies and plastics they are not allowed to do business in europe. not only a form of reparations to the nations that the west has historically undercut and enslaved in some shape or form. Make the multi billion dollar businesses pay to make it right we can use the money to invest in agro forests that will replenish our land for future generations.

Okay. Well, that means we need to go back to pre-industrial times, to have any chance of becomihng sustainable. Modernity and sustainability are mutually exclusive.

If you are referring to greenwashing itself, is sadly not new, it has been an issue for a long time now, before Covid. The term was coined during the 80's, and likely was an issue before then.

BBC are experts at 'greenwashing'. From volcanoes causing 'climate crisis' to using less environmentally-damaging shampoo when washing your hair the BBC has it covered. But food recipe articles promoting out-of-season-flown-in-by-air fruit and vegetables is OK.

Think instead of talking about these definitions for decades... this GenZ?! has been hearing this argument before the millennials were born... the big companies that are profitting from this should set the standard and the little ones shall follow.. Every company has a responsibility "sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." Why is BBC copy pasting reports like these?!
