Huw Edwards given six-month suspended jail sentence for indecent images of children | BBC News

Former BBC News presenter Huw Edwards has been given a suspended six-month sentence for child abuse image offences, meaning he avoids jail.
He is also required to complete a sex offender programme, and will be on the sex offenders' register for seven years.
In July, Edwards admitted having 41 such images which were sent to him on WhatsApp.
The sentencing hearing is told Edwards, 63, paid another man, Alex Williams, hundreds of pounds of for gufts and presents in exchange for the images.
After sentencing, the BBC said: "We are appalled by his crimes. He has betrayed not just the BBC, but audiences who put their trust in him".

Edwards would have been given 1 year imprisonment but three months were deducted for mental health reasons and due to it being a first offence. A third of the sentence was deducted due to Edwards' early guilty plea. Surely you can understand the mental health side of things

He’s not free. He will be supervised by probation for 2 years. If he so much as sneezes in the direction of a child he will be recalled to serve his sentence in prison. Furthermore, as head of the CPS - Starmer would not have been remotely involved in, or even aware of, the specific case against Savile dismissed by a local lawyer on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence to take it to prosecution.

Why are people surprised. The establishment does not care about these heinous crimes. We have a show on T.V. (15 kids and counting) where a man is omitting to being a "wrong un" and, nothing is done. He was made into a rich celebrity after admitting to having a child with a 14 year old while he was 18.

Before I explain, let me point out, I believe he is guilty. That being said, what evidence do we have? There's a photo of him in a London hotel with a 17 year old. That's legal. She said she never met him before she was 16 so, he can legally sleep with her. She came into the country legally, through a port of entry and, of an age considered responsible enough to travel. So, unless she was intoxicated or coerced, claiming she was trafficked will be difficult.

As disgusting as he is if he slept with a 17 year old in the UK he didn't break any laws and if he only associated with Jeffrey Epstein but never got involved in any of his activities, then he also didn't break any laws. As in both the UK and the US you cannot legally be charged with guilt by association. He's guilty in my mind and in my heart and his behaviour is definitely unbecoming of a royal and he should definitely be made to step down and we shouldn't be paying for his existence. However, legally he is in the right which is really unfortunate but that's how it is.
