Risking death crossing the English Channel in a pedalo - BBC News

More than 17,000 migrants and asylum seekers have crossed the English Channel so far in 2021, some of them saving up thousands of pounds to pay smugglers to organise their crossings.
But many, especially younger people travelling alone, have no money and no contacts in Calais.
Over the last year, film maker Julien Goudichaud followed a group of young Sudanese migrants as they went to extreme lengths to try to get to the UK.

Make it clear that we do not welcome immigrants like Denmark did as the current perception is everyone stays and is taken care of even of forever 4. Once the boarder is closed it will give breathing space for anyone in the country to processed and repatriated. 5. Tighten the rules on public money spent by human rights lawyers who aim to delay just deportations If you don’t have borders you do not have security.

@@Chris47368 *Brexit and isolating ourselves from the rest of the world* I'm not interested in 'global Britain'. I want the UK to shrink in its economic and cultural status. I want to live in a quiet, increasingly ruralized society. I don't want the state to keep importing people to prop up failing state services and to suppress wages for corporations. Moreover, not wishing to lower races has got nothing to do with "isolation", it is common sense to maintain the demographic, cultural and racial make up of a society. *murdoch press monopoly?* This is the left wing version of the George Soros conspiracy. Everyone that disgarees with your metropolitanism must be brainwashed by the "Murdoch press". *Innocent and hard working people* I never said they were guilty nor lazy, I said I didn't want to share a nation with them. *As long as they contribute taxes to that government and provide an overall benefit to that country...* This is just an extremely materialistic and un-human view of society. Instead of having a culture, a heritage, a history and a people, you just consider human beings as resources that provide services and provide labour. You would make the same argument about horses on a farm, "As long as the horse pulls its weight around here...". If you consider the value of a citizen the taxes & services they provide, you are by default destroying the moral & social fabric of society. You are measuring the value of a citizen by graphs & numbers. Furthermore, even if I was to objectively prove the economically parasitical relationship these lower races have with us - using your own metrics as to how to value a person's right to be here - you would refuse to agree with me, and come up with some other excuse to justify their presence here. *Brexit was simply a vote of stupidity and self inflicted damage..* I voted Leave with the specific intent of causing economic damage to the UK. Our current society is morally, demographically and culturally sick. The economic conditions of the UK - our productivity - props this system up. I value society as having more interests than 'GDP go up'. I don't want to see more of my precious homeland turfed up to create houses, nor have my cultural and history erased, or keep funding the supply of cheap materialistic goods.

@@GolfWhisky you love to try to blame immigration wherever you can don't you. If you're not earning 30k or more then you've clearly made some bad choices and that can't be blamed on immigration. And in the UK you have a ridiculous idea of allowing people the right to buy a council house so you've lost Millions of them that way. And the fact that education is expensive means less people are getting decent educations and are becoming low income workers. Plus the fact that you have the "buy to let" ability means there's no real control over rental prices. So many reasons that people are in this position but of course you want to blame it on immigration. Pathetic.
