The more migrants we accept, there more will come. This isn't any solution to the problem. The countries which migrants come from have to be sorted out.

This documentary is going out of its way to show these people in a sympathetic light. They are not refugees but economic migrants. They only want to come to Britain because they believe that it has the easiest welfare system to exploit. They want to come to this country so that they can milk it to the maximum extent. I do not blame them for wanting to better their lives but Britain cannot be allowed to become the answer for the world's problems. Now the EU has allocated E3.6 million to make their camp more hospitable! They should be trying to discourage these freeloaders not encouraging them. A typical Guardian snowjob, intended to curry favour with the liberal left wing, happy to sacrifice their country on the altar of multiculturalism

Benjamin Gibbs They are human beings who wish to come to a country they feel that they can exploit the most, to the detriment of other human beings ie the indigenous population who have actually contributed to the system they wish to take advantage of. If they are as desperate as you imagine them to be they would be happy to settle down anywhere in Europe, as stipulated by international law, but that, of course, is not what they want.

It's good that someone is teaching them French because honestly what is wrong with living in France or mainland Europe? I know what is wrong with living in British cities. There is a chronic housing shortage. So much so that I know plenty of British people who struggle to find affordable accommodation and spend nearly all their income on rent. Also plenty of people who live in poor accommodation. Maybe not in comparison to a tent but with damp, leaks and poorly built or poorly adapted for residential life. One of my friends in a tiny housing association flat hasn't been able to use their bedroom or a proper bed for about a year due to water and soiled water constantly pouring through and spoiling their possessions with damp and revolting stench. Other people have their children's families crammed in with them because they don't earn enough to rent anywhere. All the schools have been expanded twice due to a shortage of school places. Public transport cannot cope either. Hospitals have ambulances waiting outside for hours because there is no capacity within. Until we can provide enough decent and affordable accommodation and services for those we already have in this small island, we need to reinforce borders and be selective about how many and who we allow to enter and most importantly where they should be allowed to live. Because migrants always seem to want to live in an already chronically crowded city.

It's always heart breaking to see young children that are hurt or are suffering from poor conditions. However, this story does not show any criminal elements that are most likely present and whose to say that some that are there are not terrorists trying to get into the U.K. to commit atrocities? I have to commend Britain on at least trying to do something about these people getting in as I wish our President would recognize a similar problem on the U.S., Mexican border and do something about it.

The problem is that many of the countries these fortune seekers originate from refuse to take their citizens back. The only way to deal with this problem is to set a harsh, but necessary example and resettle these people Germany-style. If you don't do that, pretty soon Europe will be a new South Africa or Brazil. This is ultimately a fight for survival, and we are losing it... badly.

Wow....the comments below are just shocking. No wonder we live in a wartorn society, it is because of such hatred and narcissism (see sickening comments below) that we can no longer live in peace wherever we are. We are all the children of Adam, peace be upon him. So learn some respect for one another and get rid of your pride and arrogance. It's rather annoying. Also to point out to all you fascists, racists and general ignorant bunch that being lucky and born into a certain caste/class is not mutually exclusive. So that boy with a likely fractured leg, if he had been given the same opportunities as you, could have excelled in life, perhaps greater than all of us.

I am appalled about some of the comments written on this page and the language is even more despicable and I do not understand the Guardian to allow such derapage. Most of us here have never lived a war of any kind and feared for the life of our loved ones but they have erthreans, Sudanese Iranians and of course Syrians too... Terrorists in our countries are mostly homegrown and sorry look at Kenya and Tanzania and Somalia what they have and are going through but they are black... And so what a human life is a precious life regardless of their colour of skin. We are faces with the worse tragic humanitarian tragedy since the Second World War

Why should we care about people passing through half of Europe? Germany, UK & Sweden as preferred countries for millions of migrants. The ordinary citizens are carrying the daily burden of these people! Even third generation (!) are unable to fit in and accept our values. Where do you Guardian journalist actually live? Who are your neighbours and which schools are your kids spending their daily life? Even the middle class all over Europe are now joining the right wing political sector. Why? All become Nazis? Or simply looking for acceptable solutions on these migrants and the statistical long proven heavy social problems.. Rothenham, Köln, Stockholm.. Who did those scaring violence? And who wish to live with sharia laws? Lots of demanding questions.. Long overdue. You can't solve these problems with the same answer. "Velcome" is obviously not any longer the answer!

infinite_flight123 Sam Sloan Not only should UK wide open its border, the gov. should FORCE all single brits under 35 to move home to their parents to make space for the migrants. Also, close all eldery homes, FORCE the brits taking care of their old parents because the migrants need the space more!!!

That little boy is an example of journalists jumping on the poor little boy story with only gullible con victims likely to believe such ridiculous story. Islamic state who have caused this problem. Why do you say we should open our border when they are in rich France which has plenty of agricultural jobs they could do, harvesting vegetables and grapes producing quality food and fine wines

Watching these poor people live this way in todays modern world is unbelievable but it does show me that these people are strong in spirit, how they endure in such a hostile environment is nothing less than remarkable ,I wish you all the best and hope that little boy gets the help so he so desperately needs ✝️💓😊
