Slovakia PM Robert Fico in 'life threatening condition' after being shot | BBC News

Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico has been taken to hospital in a "life-threatening" condition, after an assassination attempt was carried out.
The Prime Minister was "shot multiple times" in front of a building in the central Slovak town of Handlova, where a government meeting was held.
Fico has been taken to hospital by helicopter and his alleged assailant has been detained by police.

For instance, people exercise democracy also by apprehending their politicians to throw them in the trashcan, as happened a few times in Ukraine back in 2014. You also need to bear in mind that people are easily manipulated by mainstream media, which triggers the question of how much wisdom and good sense find place in a democracy. I abhor this act, but I'm also not going to pretend that he hasn't spent the last several years deliberately manufacturing this political extremism among his own people. No one should be subjected to political violence, but that doesn't only apply to politicians, it applies to the PUBLIC those politicians attempt to attack in their statements, their policies and their propaganda. Fico has spent several years openly promoting extremism among his own people in order to gain populist votes. No one should be surprised that this is happening, it's the inevitable consequence of politicians generating hate and extremism in order to win votes.
