I love Phoebe Bridgers so much. Funnily it wasn´t me, but my 57 year old Dad, who discovered her and spammed me on whatsapp with her songs until I finally really listened and started loving her. Ever since then, Phoebe (and other artist in that genre like Alice Phoebe Lou or Courtney Barnett) has been something that my Dad and I bond over. We keep sending each other new discoveries and just rn l sent this video to him (I expect he´s gonna answer that he already knows it and I´m way behind on what´s happening in the music world). Our mutual dream is to see Phoebe live on stage and we hope one day she´ll come to the south of Germany and play a concert. I´m so looking forward to this day. Thanks Phoebe for strenghtening the connection with my dad so much.

Someone else may have pointed this out by now, but I believe this song was inspired by a Jeff Buckley performance (he used to cover "Just Like a Woman" which has a similar lyric delivery as this song), and Phoebe has been on the record saying Jeff Buckley's Live at Sin-é was a favorite record growing up (and I believe his cover of "Je n'en connais pas la fin" probably inspired "Savior Complex"), which would make this cover of "Fake Plastic Trees" a full circle. Jeff Buckley -> Radiohead -> Phoebe Bridgers.

I'm missing half of a (virtual) festival for which I literally paid a ticket just to watch this on replay on and on. And I have no regrets.

It sure hurts to hear that bbc radio bumper on this sublime performance I'm bound to re-watch dozens of times

Phoebe bridgers and radio head are some of my ultimate favorites so her covering this is literal perfection. I’m so happy I found this. ❤

This is the second best version of the song I have heard, the original being the best of course, its not very often that someone doing a cover is actually able to reproduce the emotion/feeling of the original - simply because its not their 'story'. Very nice! If I didn't know better I'd assume this is the original.

Look at Arlo’s subtle acknowledgment of Phoebe’s brilliant vulnerable voice at 0:26. Says it all in that subtle moment… just perfect.

I’m a 3000 year old Demi-god from a polytheistic dynasty awaiting resurgence at the coming of the end of days, twenty years hence. Not Phoebie’s typical demographic, but my God this makes me wish I was real.

I'm a 14 year old who isn't like many other kids my age. I don't think the way they do. I don't act the way they do. I don't talk the way they do. This song makes me want to change them. I had a girlfriend who I thought understood me, turns out she didn't, and I don't think the friends she turned on me will either. This song makes me feel something not even she could make me feel herself. It makes me feel like a real person. Flesh, blood, brain, cells, skin, hair, pimples and all.

Be yourself 🥰 that’s what I would tell my 14 yo self, to be yourself and also that there’s nothing wrong with yourself. I didn’t like myself and would have happily been anyone else. Now I’m 37, accept myself and rarely meet anyone up to my high standards of how I like to behave and the kind way i want to treat people etc. Seems like you understand that already though xox

I'm an old house tree burning for the second time in two years, totally detached from my first builders who are all grown up. Although not Phoebe's usual demographic, I'm delighted.

I'm a withering 13 year old worm who lost his Hispanic mom to the communist party of 1980. Not Phoebe's target demographic, but I will be listening to this on the daily.
