I genuinely feel Hozier has the best male voice in the business at the moment. It's so powerful, full of range, its soulful, sincere, full of a rhythm, a flow, its hard hitting, beautiful and he gives it his all everytime even when it looks like he is not trying.
@macm.38893 жыл бұрын
I wholeheartedly agree with you, but if you were looking for an additional voice to melt over, I literally just started listening to them and I guess I'm just a little excited to share/can't believe I didn't listen sooner, but Conor Mason with the band Nothing But Thieves seems just incredible. You can tell that every word sung is deeply felt and meant. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rISZaKmcmNVgiZY

Original: Drunk confessions, meaningless one night stand turned into one sided romance, sipping a drink while staring at someone from the other side of the bar Hozier’s cover: The fear of ruining the long-term friendship because of newly developed feelings, yearning, heartbreak, and sadness This cover definitely demonstrates the REAL meaning behind the lyrics. The original covers up the tone using cool guitar riffs and bass but Hozier really made me realize how emotional these lyrics are when they’re stripped of that. Hearing them raw does something to me.

@Joshua A. Wegmann Of course i have a huge urge to announce i am gay wherever i go. I can't go tell my parents i am gay even though i am 22 and mostly independent, without fearing my father murdering me. I can't tell some of my friends because where i live, most of them are homophobic. I fucking apologize that i see this shitty youtube account as a safe space away from my real life people and happily try to be myself and it inconviniences you. And yeah, start announcing you are straight everywhere, literally NOBODY is stopping you. At worst some of my rightfully jealous gays will mock you for it. It's not like your life literally depends on staying silent about liking whoever the fuck you like. Go hate your wife or something.
@ghostking67004 жыл бұрын
Joshua A. Wegmann run with it dude! Go one step further and respect gay people like they do to you! Maybe after that you’ll see how much of a douche you were being to people who just want acceptance without a huge fight over it. We only say it as much as we do to see how many people are like us or are allies, or to pay respects and compliment. You should definitely do more of that, and maybe you’ll find the people you talk so harshly to are human too.
@arundhatisharma57434 жыл бұрын
Joshua A. Wegmann this is literally the dumbest thing i’ve read in a while. you’re reeking of privilege and it shows. you don’t have to fear for your life because of your sexuality but some of us live with that fear EVERY single day. imagine getting so bothered by a harmless comment on youtube. homophobic much 🤢

I would disagree to be honest. This version sounds a bit too happy and romantic, which I feel the lyrics are neither. The singer in the song is not in a good state. He's falling asleep drunk on his couch, and obsessing over this woman and coming back to her when he's drunk. It's a song about love and lust yes, but it's showing the darker side of the controlling power of love, and obsession.

AM version: broken up with, bitter and ready for some shit talking and rebound at the bar Hozier: A slowburn with someone who you dated and broke up with but are still friends and you're caught in an endless dance around one another wondering if they still love you

He literally just took the song and made it Hozier style. I would've thought he wrote it if I never heard the original

I didn’t think I liked this cover at first because it changes the whole meaning of the song for me but now I can’t stop thinking about it.

when i first heard this song i understood what it meant, but it's like knowing global happens, then seeing a polar bear drown by falling into oily warm water because of a flaming oil tanker that melted a polar ice cap which supported a rare species of penguin that all fell to their death because the ground beneath their feet disappeared.

Absolute transformation. Which makes you realise what a great writer Turner is, and what a great interpreter Hozier is.

Have you got colour in your cheeks? Do you ever get that fear that you can't shift The type that sticks around like something in your teeth? Are there some aces up your sleeve? Have you no idea that you're in deep? I dreamt about you nearly every night this week How many secrets can you keep? 'Cause there's this tune I found that makes me think of you somehow and I play it on repeat Until I fall asleep Spilling drinks on my settee Do I wanna know If this feeling goes both ways? Sad to see you go Was sort of hoping that you'd stay Darling we both know That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can't say tomorrow day Crawling back to you Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? 'Cause I always do Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new Now I've thought it through Do I wanna know? If this feeling goes both ways? Sad to see you go Was sort of hoping that you'd stay Darling we both know That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can't say tomorrow day Oh, Crawling back to you Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? 'Cause I always do Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new Now I've thought it through Crawling back to you Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? 'Cause I always do Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new Now I've thought it through Crawling back to you Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? 'Cause I always do

This cover is so beautiful and vulnerable, you can really feel the longing and the sadness, that were less pronounced in the original version of the song. This version almost feels more sincere with the outpouring of emotions towards the person it was intended for . Also this cover is the definition of #sadboihours
