It's a song about desire and longing for someone, not sad. This sort of ballad approach doesn't work as far as I'm concerned. The original composition has a certain tempo to it that suggest a sexual rhythm.

Lyrics/Paroles : Have you got colour in your cheeks? Do you ever get the fear that you can't shift the tide? That sticks around like something's in your teeth Are there some aces up your sleeve? Have you no idea that you're in deep? I've dreamt about you nearly every night this week How many secrets can you keep? Cause there's this tune I found that makes me think of you somehow And I play it on repeat Until I fall asleep Spilling drinks on my settee (Do i wanna know?) If this feeling flows both ways (Sad to see you go) I sorta hoped that you’d stay (Baby, we both know) That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can’t say tomorrow day Crawling back to you Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? Cause I always do Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new Now I've thought it through Crawling back to you So have you got the guts? Been wondering if you're heart's still open And if so I wanna know what time it shuts Simmer down and pucker up I'm sorry to interrupt It's just I'm constantly on the cusp Of trying to kiss you I don't know if you feel the same as I do We could be together if you wanted to (Do i wanna know?) If this feeling flows both ways (Sad to see you go) I sorta hoped that you’d stay (Baby, we both know) That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can’t say tomorrow day Crawling back to you Ever thought of calling when you've had a few?(1) Cause I always do Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new Now I've thought it through Crawling back to you (Do i wanna know?) If this feeling flows both ways (Sad to see you go) I sorta hoped that you’d stay (Baby, we both know) That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can’t say tomorrow day (Do i wanna know?) Too busy being yours to fall (Sad to see you go) Ever thought of calling down (Do i wanna know?) Do you want me crawlin' back to you? Lyrics 😍 Have you got color in your cheeks' Do you ever get the feeling that you can't shift the tide That sticks around like something's in your teeth And some aces up your sleeve I had no idea that you're in deep I dreamt about you near me every night this week How many secrets can you keep' 'Cause there's this tune I found that makes me think of you somehow When I play it on repeat Until I fall asleep Spilling drinks on my settee If this feeling flows both ways (Sad to see you go) Was sorta hoping that you'd stay (Baby we both know) That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can't say tomorrow day Crawlin' back to you. Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? 'Cause I always do Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new Now I've thought it through Crawling back to you So have you got the guts? Been wondering if your heart's still open and if so I wanna know what time it shuts Simmer down and pucker up I'm sorry to interrupt it's just I'm constantly on the cusp of trying to kiss you I don't know if you feel the same as I do But we could be together, if you wanted to If this feeling flows both ways (Sad to see you go) Was sorta hoping that you'd stay (Baby we both know) That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can't say tomorrow day Crawling back to you Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? (calling when you've had a few) 'Cause I always do ('cause I always do) Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new Now I've thought it through Crawling back to you, (do I wanna know?) If this feeling flows both ways (Sad to see you go) Was sorta hoping that you'd stay (Baby we both know) That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can't say tomorrow day Too busy being yours to fall (Sad to see you go) Ever thought of calling darling? (Do I wanna know) Do you want me crawling back to you?

I love how this really shows the lyrics for what they are. The original (which is absolutely amazing) masks how sad they can be with its melody and pace, slowing it down and stripping it back really highlights the meaning. It goes from a pumped up groovy song to a sad song about loss, yearning, and pain
@NerissaThak2 жыл бұрын
As a massive fan of the Arctic Monkeys I was hesitant and maybe a bit negatively biased about watching this but OMG I’m so glad I did! Dua’s version just hits different as the song is completely pulled back. You can hear the lyrics more clearly and hear them in a completely different way. I was balling the first time I heard her version 😭 The Arctic Monkeys are musical geniuses but thank you to Dua for showing me that on a more deeper level! Respect! 💗
