What’s odd is if you’re from the valleys like me, you still have to say how far away you are from Cardiff coz some English people don’t even know the valleys exist

I don't have a Welsh accent. So when I tell people I'm Welsh, I always get something like, " How come you don't have an accent? " or, " You don't sound Welsh ". It's not all about the accent ya know.

"the valleys" are the more rural areas built within the "valleys" of wales.

I was a barman in Machynlleth when an Englishman came in and asked for a pint of beer.It was less than a pint in the 70's. He handed me a pond and as I counted out the change as I handed it over, I said" Cant" which is Welsh for 0ne hundred. He gave me a dirty look and asked what was the matter with me!! Gospel!!
