It is in Labarador north of Quebec (Canada) and the woman spoke Montagnais.

Yes, my co-workers are amazed at the amount of time and work that goes into making moccasins. They've watched me put together regular sized moccasins, and winter moccasins/Ligonier boots/shoe packs. It is a lot of work. But, I'd rather have learned how to do it, than to have to buy them. And, this way, they are made to fit us. Shawnee/Seneca/white.

Just remember that 50 years ago, simply buying a new pair of shoes was out of the question. People actually paid to have shoes repaired.

I have original buck skin ''shoes'' and they are pretty comfortable. Although, I would never trade my boots for these.

Yes and today it is extreme expensive to buy a new pair of shoes if you wanna have quality.

@rbsvy91368 That's a bit of an exaggeration. Pay attention to what the Native American woman says about clothing in this video. She says they LIKE the white man's clothing, but they still prefer their footwear because it WORKS. These are practical people. Sometimes the ancestral ways are inferior, and sometimes they are superior.

@brradsullivan Pleased to say that you are absolutely incorrect. Your theory of "displacement" makes no sense, especially if you read the history of contact between Europeans and First Nations in Canada. One good source is the Hudson's Bay Company Archives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. You'll see that there was a very large population of Aboriginal people in Canada at the time of European contact (first contact was often via the HBC traders). Best wishes -- and remember: fact, not fiction.
