+Tsukiko Mikihara That is what makes him a true gentleman, a member of the aristocracy, manner and behaviour when in the presence of ladies. His position at the top of 19C society, ensured he knew how to behave in public. His manner and behaviour at the start of the novel, was only towards his inferiors, or those below him socially. It was only Elizabeth's abrupt and forthright behaviour towards him, that brought him out of his shell. He saw her as an equal, even though they mixed in totally different circles. One of Brontes masterpieces.

But she is, I agree definitely more interested in him and prepared to reevaluate him. But I agree, it's a rather nice look of new understanding.

The language is so beautiful. Event though it's a confrontational scene, one of my favorite bits of dialogue from the miniseries is after Lady Catherine catches up with Lizzie who previously left her in the garden of Longbourn after being accused of being engaged to Mr. Darcy. They're next to Lady Catherine's carriage when the woman accuses Lizzie of being determined to make Mr. Darcy "the contempt of the world" because Lizzie won't commit to not marrying him should he propose to her again. Lizzie responds to Lady Catherine by saying, "I am only resolved to act in a manner which will constitute my own happiness without reference to you or to any person so wholly unconnected with me." What a beautiful way to blow someone off by essentially saying, "I don't have to ask permission of anyone in how to live my life, least of all you who I barely know."

I will say, about two years ago I watched this series for the mere purpose of criticizing it so I could see how the 2005 film was so much more superior, in terms of the actors playing the characters, the soundtrack, and like all my other fellow Americans who get bored so easily: the length. But WHOA. I was not expecting to love it as much I did. Minutes into the first episode I felt really connected to the characters and their believable portrayals from the actors, while also feeling ashamed of how I had judged it so quickly. And now every year around Christmas time (around the time when I first saw it) I still get the same sensation as I did before as I hear the notes of the opening credits. And I get excited to go along the journey with Lizzie Bennet of falling in love with Mr. Darcy all over again. I don't think anything on TV or film has elicited a feeling like that in me, I'm glad I hold this one so dear to my heart!!

Colin Firth IS MR. DARCY!! When you think of Pride and Prejudice Colin Firth comes to mind, there could be no other. I just love it when the proud Mr. Darcy is at a loss of words and repeats himself, even Ms. Bennett has a laugh about that. Just love Colin Firth in his other movies too. He has such a presence on the screen. Even though in 1995 he was only 35 and is now 55 he still looks damn good and I think as he gets older he will always look good.

Oh yeah the show Runners definitely knew what they were doing with this no inappropriate nudity by modern standards. But it would have been basically equivalent to her singing in his literal underwear from the time period Viewpoint. Which makes her reaction all the better and yet allow them to keep a relatively low age rating on the series.

What can I say Jane Austin's novels my favourite. Watching Colin Firth as Mr Darcy all those years ago made my heart flutter and still does. I think Colin Firth is my favourite actor of all time. I have not seen him in one film when my heart does not beat ten to the dozen and I am in my seventh decade!!!

As much as I love the 2005 version with Keira Knightly and Matthew McFadyen (and I dearly do), My absolute favorite, above all in its history of cinematic productions, is the 1995 production with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. The cherry on top of the whipped cream for myself, was to be able to enjoy the both of them (even with a diminished role with Jennifer Ehle) in 2010's "The King's Speech." 2011 Best Picture, Best Actor Colin Firth, Best Director Tom Hooper, Best Original Screenplay David Seidler, with best supporting actor and actress, et al, most deservedly going to Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter, and so many others for this inspired and incredible production. I am American, but do so enjoy a greatly produced British period piece like this one, Downton Abbey, etc.
