I Lost My Brother In The Manchester Bombing: One Year On

On 22 May 2017 the worst terror attack in the UK since 7/7 took place at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. The majority of the 14,000 fans were young girls, there to enjoy a night of freedom. 22 people were killed, more than 250 injured and countless lives were impacted.
Among those people is Louise (20), who has had her whole life put on hold; plans to go to university have been stopped as she struggles to deal with the loss of her brother Martyn Hett, who was killed in the attack.

with respect to everyone that passed . i think its his death that really affected me the most because he wasn't just " a picture" , he was sooooo alive, he recorded his best moments, he'd booked a seat a wendy williams show in america , the week before he was due to be there he passed , she left his seat vacated for that evening in his memory. he 200% intended to have a good time throughout that summer , and i hate to think that he had a check list of fun things do to and its been interrupted , just like that. I am unsure whether i'd be able to cope with a loss like this. i feel like i'll let myself die because its too hard. his friends missed him the second they couldn't spot him. he was really really loved.

it’s so sad. 2 years, already? almost 3 years?! it still hurts me to listen to “one last time” or to even hear about manchester bombing.. it HURTS. i remember me, my sister, my friend brooke and her brother on may 22nd of 2017 at brookes house in her basement and our parents telling us about the bombing and we were so scared we all hugged each other and prayed. i cried. i have a memory of me saying “who would do such a thing?” my voice was broken. i send so much love right now. rip to those 22 angels. 👼🏻

One of my friends was at that concert. His mum was injured by a shard of glass flying into her leg. I was invited to go and wish I did until I heard the news.
